Paul Sewald secures 12th save of season Saturday

Paul Sewald tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 12th save of the season on Saturday, securing a 5-4 Arizona win over Colorado.

Sewald needed 12 pitches to get through Kyle Karros, Jake McCarthy, and Hunter Goodman for his 12th save in 13 chances this season. He ranks third in the National League in saves, trailing only San Diego's Mason Miller (16) and St. Louis' Riley O'Brien (13). Sewald has a 1-4 record and a bit of an inflated 3.72 ERA in 22 appearances this season. However, he has given up only nine hits and six walks in 19.1 innings while striking out 22 batters. He is firmly locked in as Arizona's closer.
