Paul Skenes strikes out 10, but suffers third straight loss Thursday

by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Fri, May 29th 7:03am EDT

Paul Skenes allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits in 5.1 innings, while walking three and striking out 10, as the Pirates lost to the Cubs, 7-2, on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

Skenes tied his season-high with 10 strikeouts in just 5.1 innings, but was done in by back-to-back Pirate errors in the sixth inning that led to two unearned runs and ended his day. Skenes needed a season-high 103 pitches and also walked a season-high three batters, the final of which started the Cubs' two-run rally in the sixth. Skenes is now 5-4 with a 2.89 ERA and a 75:12 K:BB ratio over 12 starts (65.1 innings). He'll look to snap his three-game skid when he gets the ball on Wednesday in Houston.
