Louis Varland flirts with danger, earns save Monday versus Mets
by Brenton Kemp | Blue Jays Correspondent | Tue, Jun 30th 11:50am EDT
Blue Jays closer Louis Varland pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save on Monday against the Mets.
Fantasy Impact:
It wasn't a clean inning for Varland as he surrendered a single and a walk with one out in the ninth, but managed to rack up strikeouts of Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio to end the threat. Varland is now a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities since taking over as Blue Jays closer, posting a 0.98 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 64:13 K:BB across 46 innings on the campaign.
