Tigers left-hander Tyler Holton allowed one earned run across two innings as the opener Friday against the A's.

Holton allowed a walk and a double within the first three hitters he faced, handing the A's a quick 1-0 lead. However, he retired four of the next five batters he faced, escaping a one-out hit-by-pitch in the second thanks to catcher Dillon Dingler nailing Henry Bolte attempting to steal second base.
