Jack Perkins allowed five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over three innings in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

Perkins continues a dismal stretch on the mound, allowing three earned runs or more in five of his last six contests. The right-hander has disappointed despite flashing elite swing-and-miss stuff at times for manager Mark Kotsay, posting a 7.04 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with a 2-8 record, 10.1 K/9 ratio, and .804 OPS allowed through 28 appearances.
