Bryce Elder struggles early in Monday's loss

Bryce Elder allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings in Monday's 8-5 loss to the Mets.
Fantasy Impact:
Elder had been in a real groove since the All-Star break, giving up two runs or less in each of his previous four starts coming into Monday's game. The righty was not able to keep it going, however, as the Mets jumped Elder for five runs in the first frame in this one. Elder did settle down a bit and give the Braves five innings, but the roller coaster of inconsistency has become a common thing with the 27-year-old hurler. Elder will move forward with a 4.03 ERA and 1.25 WHIP on the season.
