Troy Melton allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out three over 5 2/3 innings in Friday's loss to the Royals.

Melton continues a strong stretch of late, allowing two earned runs or less in each of his last 11 trips to the mound. The right-hander will look to provide manager AJ Hinch with a dynamic arm as part of a revamped Tigers rotation in a crowded AL Wild Card race, carrying a 1.60 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 7-2 record and 7.6 K/9 ratio across 15 starts.
