Wesley Matthews injures hip in Mavericks’ win over Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks handed the Los Angeles Lakers their worst loss in franchise history despite losing shooting guard Wesley Matthews to a hip injury. Matthews strained his right hip in the first half and did not return to action in the second. According to coach Rick Carlisle, the injury is not serious and Matthews is expected to play in Wednesday’s game against the Knicks. Matthews finished with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and hit three three-pointers in 14 minutes of play. (Earl K Sneed via Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Undrafted rookie Dorian Finney-Smith stands to benefit the most if Matthews misses any games or sees a restriction on his minutes due to the injury. Finney-Smith played 33 minutes and scored seven points to go along with seven rebounds in mop up duty against the Lakers. Matthews moved to small forward recently when center Andrew Bogut went down with a long term injury and Seth Curry was inserted into the starting lineup.
