Kawhi Leonard to opt out of player option and become a free agent

by Lawrence Jackson | Clippers Correspondent | Sun, Jun 23rd 7:35pm EDT

Kawhi Leonard will decline is player option for the 2019-2020 NBA season and become a free agent. This is no surprise as the option was set to pay Leonard $21.3 million, well below his value. The Raptors still however remain the favorites to sign Leonard because of the trust that the Raptors have built with him. The Raptors are the only team who can offer Leonard a max contract of five years and $190 million. (Yahoo)

Fantasy Impact:

Leonard is reported to have interest in the Los Angeles Clippers but the Raptors remain the favorite. The Raptors team chemistry and development of younger pieces in the rotation only help Leonard’s value if he decides to stay in Canada.
