Russell Westbrook has officially decided to exercise his $47 million player option to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2022-2023 season. (Chris Haynes on twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Westbrook was involved in trade discussions as recently as this week before Kyrie Irving decided to opt-in to his own player option. Now he will officially wear the gold and purple for another season and Lakers fans will hope to get the Westbrook of old along with a full season if the All-Star trio as the team only had a handful of games where all three of Lebron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. His fantasy stock for this next season should not be more than a second or third rounder at best as he is clearly not the same player he once was, managers should keep in mind that a trade is also still possible regardless of the fact that he exercised this option.
