Derrius Guice stands out during reps with first team

by Jody Smith | Sat, Jun 16th 9:12am EDT

Rookie running back Derrius Guice made a positive impression throughout OTAs and minicamp, splitting first-team reps with Rob Kelley and also flashed a three-down skill set. The Washington Post's Kareem Copeland wrote that Guice was "running with juice, showing off sharp cuts and displaying a good set of hands in the passing game," and his presence has elevated the play of the team's entire backfield. Fantasy Impact:

Guice was tremendous at LSU, especially during his sophomore season when he ran for 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns. Guice has been lauded as s a first- and second-down back but showed promise as a receiver in 2017 and has looked solid so far this summer. Often times a player is labeled as a poor pass-catcher but that may simply not be the case. Sometimes it's just not part of his college pedigree--former teammate Leonard Fournette is a good example of this and caught 36 balls as a rookie. Guice is shaping up to be a nice value in redraft leagues and could easily wind up as a top-3 rookie producer in 2018.
