Matt Ryan has his way with the Saints' defense, but throws another late INT

by Justin Dade | Sun, Jan 3rd 4:46pm EST

Matt Ryan had a strong outing fantasy wise in the loss to the Saints finishing 24/36, for 334 yards, 2 TDs, and one very costly interception. Ryan was in control for most of the game against the Saints' wimpy pass defense and found a lot of success completing passes to eight different players. Ryan got the tight ends involved and also connected with star receiver Julio Jones for 9 catches and 149 yards. Late in the fourth quarter, Ryan was given a chance to lead the offense down the field for a game-winning score, but was intercepted on the first play of the drive as he locked onto his target over the middle of the field. His interception sealed the fate for Atlanta and seemed like a fitting end to his disappointing 2015 campaign.

Fantasy Impact:

Ryan's crucial interception was his 16th of the season, his second highest total of his career. Ryan struggled all season under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for perhaps his worst season to date in the NFL. Ryan will look to improve in his second season with this new offense next year after finishing with 4,591 passing yards, 21 TDs and 21 total turnovers in 2015.
