Fantasy Football Player Notes

2020 Rest of Season Rankings

Le'Veon Bell Note
Le'Veon Bell photo 24. Le'Veon Bell (BYE)
Bell signed with the Chiefs on October 15th, and will now be the 1B to Clyde Edwards-Helaire's 1A. It wasn't the best spot for Bell to land, in that there is a younger and more talented back ahead of him. But he'll play for an elite offense, one that is capable of utilizing his skill set. Consider Bell a strong Flex play going forward.

Frank Gore Note
Frank Gore photo 35. Frank Gore (BYE)
Gore played second fiddle in terms of snaps to Lamical Perine in the Jets' first game since Le'Veon Bell was released, but he manage to produce, totaling 70 yards on 15 touches. Eventually, you'd have to think that Gore gets less and less work as the Jets look to see what they have in Perine, but for now, Gore is a desperation Flex in bye weeks.

Todd Gurley II Note
Todd Gurley II photo 42. Todd Gurley II (BYE)
He keeps falling into the end zone, which is what's holding up his fantasy stock, but his inefficiency cannot be ignored. Neither can his health or schedule, which ranks as the third-toughest in the NFL over the remainder of the season, including another game against the Bucs, the league's toughest matchup for running backs.

Ito Smith Note
Ito Smith photo 49. Ito Smith (BYE)
Smith has been Devonta Freeman's primary backup for two years, but has never seen more than 14 touches in a game. He'll again play second fiddle in Atlanta, this time to Todd Gurley. Even if Gurley were to get injured, however, Smith would likely split time with Brian Hill, making him only a low-end handcuff who isn't worth rostering in fantasy leagues.

Adrian Peterson Note
Adrian Peterson photo 52. Adrian Peterson (BYE)
Peterson had a great first game with the Lions, dominating the carries and factoring into the passing game. Eventually, D'Andre Swift should take over the lead role, but for now, expect Peterson to lead the backfield in touches. That's not the mot desirable situation for fantasy, but it's also not something that can be entirely ignored. Add Peterson if he's available and start him if you're utterly desperate.

Duke Johnson Jr. Note
Duke Johnson Jr. photo 68. Duke Johnson Jr. (BYE)
Johnson will get his chance as the featured back for the Texans beginning in Week 10, with David Johnson placed on IR with a concussion. Duke has talent and should provide a high floor with his receiving chops, and should be considered an RB2 for as long as David is out.
