Fantasy Football Player Notes

2021 Rest of Season Rankings

Rob Gronkowski Note
Rob Gronkowski photo 35. Rob Gronkowski TE - (BYE)
Including playoffs, Gronk now has 11 touchdowns over his past 16 games. In his past three contests, he has secured 15-of-16 targets for 186 yards and four TDs. That's fantastic, but the future Hall-of-Famer is still fighting the age model in a crowded receiving corps. It was tempting to tag him as a "sell", but the Week 1 results are just impossible to ignore.

Devonta Freeman Note
Devonta Freeman photo 55. Devonta Freeman RB - (BYE)
Freeman found the end zone against the Bengals on Sunday, but he handled just six rushing attempts. Negative game script ruined any chance of him having a ceiling game. It was more concerning that Latavius Murray once again saw a similar number of carries (five). Freeman feels like a TD-dependent RB3 in the fantasy finals against the Rams.

Odell Beckham Jr. Note
Odell Beckham Jr. photo 60. Odell Beckham Jr. WR - (BYE)
It was reported on Sunday morning that Matthew Stafford is dealing with nagging injuries, which have likely played a part in the Rams' offensive struggles as of late. OBJ is in line for consistent targets with Robert Woods done for the year, and he saw 10 targets in Week 12 against the Packers. The highlight was a 54-yard touchdown, but Beckham wasn't efficient otherwise. "Selling" him is a bet against his talent at this point in his career. His name value is likely worth more than what his production will be rest-of-season.

Jordan Howard Note
Jordan Howard photo 80. Jordan Howard RB - (BYE)
Howard is a priority waiver wire add entering Week 10 after he seemingly operated as the Eagles' primary ball-carrier in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Over his past two games Howard has rushed 29 times for 128 yards and three touchdowns. He saw seven more carries than Boston Scott in Week 9. There's a chance that he'll retain a role even when Miles Sanders returns. Consider Howard a low-end RB2 for Week 10 against the Broncos.

Latavius Murray Note
Latavius Murray photo 90. Latavius Murray RB - (BYE)
Murray was given over 78% of Baltimore's rushing attempts in Week 4 against Denver, which is the highest mark any Ravens RB has seen this season. Ty'Son Williams was a healthy scratch on Sunday, which makes Murray a worthwhile bench stash moving forward. Murray isn't a full "buy" until we see this usage sustain, however.

Julio Jones Note
Julio Jones photo 110. Julio Jones WR - (BYE)
Things reached an all-time low for the 2011 first-round pick this past Thursday. Jones saw just one target and caught a seven-yard pass in Week 16. He hasn't found the end zone this season and has topped 60 receiving yards just once. The 32-year-old doesn't even belong on rosters during championship week.

Justin Jackson Note

Cole Beasley Note
Cole Beasley photo 122. Cole Beasley WR - (BYE)
Beasley has become game-script dependent in 2021. Through five games the Bills haven't been trailing enough for them to fully utilize use of their 11 personnel package, which means Beasley just hasn't been on the field enough to warrant weekly fantasy consideration.

Devontae Booker Note
Devontae Booker photo 143. Devontae Booker RB - (BYE)
Booker got it done for fantasy purposes in Week 7, totaling 66 yards and a touchdown in another spot start for Saquon Barkley. Note, though, that his running back share dropped from 84.2% in Week 5 to 80.0% in Week 6 to 60.9% in Week 7. Barkley is also coming back soon, which renders Booker as nothing more than a low-upside handcuff.

William Fuller V Note
William Fuller V photo 158. William Fuller V WR - (BYE)
The Dolphins were likely easing him in after missing the first two games of the season, but Fuller ran a route on just 69% of Miami's dropbacks in Week 3. He also had a 20.0 ADOT, so it's clear the team is using him as a situational deep threat. Consider him a volatile fantasy option moving forward.
