Curtis McElhinney surrendered three goals on 22 shots in a 4-0 series ending loss to the Boston Bruins Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: McElhinney did everything he could to help the Hurricanes get back into the series against Boston but it was no use. The Bruins appear to be an experienced team on a mission this post-season and there was little Carolina could do to stop it. McElhinney will finish the post-season with a 3-2 record, 2.01 GAA, and a 0.930 SV%.

Calvin de Haan netted his first career playoff goal with 6:12 remaining in the second period of Game Three to cut the deficit to 2-1. Unfortunately for Carolina, Boston would hang on to win 2-1 and claim a 3-0 series lead.

Fantasy Impact: It has been a quiet post-season for de Haan as he as only scored one goal in 11 games played so far. One bright spot is the fact that during this span he also possesses a plus-four rating. His defense will need to be spotless if Carolina is to live another day beyond this Thursday night.

Petr Mrazek allowed six goals on 25 shots faced by Boston's high-powered offense in Sunday's 6-2 loss.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek has not looked good in the first two games of this series, allowing 10 goals during this time frame. It has yet to be determined if Mrazek will be a healthy scratch for Game Three this Tuesday night. If that is the case, Curtis McElhinney will be between the pipes for Carolina come game time.

Teuvo Teravainen scored a goal with less than three minutes remaining in the third period as Boston routed the Hurricanes 6-2 in Game Two Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: It was Teravainen's seventh goal of the post-season and his fourth in his last five games played. He will look to help his team get back to winning in Game Three this Tuesday night at Carolina.

Justin Williams potted his fourth goal of the playoffs as the Hurricanes were routed by the Bruins 6-2 in Game Two. Boston now leads the series 2-0.

Fantasy Impact: Williams has had a fairly productive playoffs so far with seven points in 13 games played. The 20-year veteran will need to turn his team around quickly as the series shifts to Carolina for Game Three this Tuesday night.

Jordan Staal dished out a secondary assist on Sebastian Aho's game tying goal early in the first period of Game One against Boston.

Fantasy Impact: Staal has had a strong playoffs in 2019 with four goals, six assists, and a plus-seven rating through 12 games played.

Greg McKegg scored his second goal of the playoffs to put the Hurricanes up 2-1 9:18 into the second period of Game One Thursday. Boston would answer with four straight goals and claim a 1-0 series lead.

Fantasy Impact: McKegg has scored two goals in his previous two games played, after being held without a point for the first nine games of the playoffs.

Sebastian Aho potted a power-play goal less than a minute to tie the game 1-1, after Steven Kamfer put the Bruins up 1-0 in the first period.

Fantasy Impact: Aho has produced five points in his previous three games played for the Hurricanes this post-season. Despite losing Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals, Aho and company were impressive until some costly penalties were taken in the third period. They will look for redemption this Sunday afternoon in Boston for Game Two.

Justin Faulk deposited his first goal of the post-season to put the Hurricanes up 2-1 almost 12 minutes into the second period against the Islanders.

Fantasy Impact: Faulk has contributed with a goal, three assists, and a plus-four rating for the Hurricanes during these playoffs.

Fantasy Impact: Svechnikov has not played since Game Three of Round One after sustaining a concussion in a fight with Capital's forward Alexander Ovechkin. It appears likely that he will play and if that is the case, it will be a big boost to Carolina's offense.


Jaccob Slavin dished out an assist on Warren Foegele's goal to tie up the game 1-1 midway through the first period of play in Monday's 5-2 win against Washington.

Fantasy Impact: Slavin has served up six assists through six games played in the playoffs played so far, along with a plus-two rating too.

Warren Foegele lit the lamp Monday night as the Hurricanes defeated the Capitals 5-2 in Game Six to force a Game Seven in the series.

Fantasy Impact: Foegele only had 15 points through 77 games played in the regular season, but this post-season he has turned it on for his squad. In just six games played, he is averaging a point per game and maintaining a plus-six rating as well. Carolina is impressed with the youngster's production in the playoffs and they are hoping he can help them get passed the Capitals in the first round.

Dougie Hamilton potted a goal, and served up an assist as well to help lead the Hurricanes to a 5-2 Game Six victory over the Capitals Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: Hamilton has played exceptionally well for Carolina producing three goals, three assists and owning a plus-four rating through the first six games of this series.

Brock McGinn scored his first career playoff goal as the Hurricanes shutout the Capitals 5-0 Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: McGinn joined the Carolina stat sheet with his first ever playoff goal Monday night. The Hurricanes are now back in this series and have a chance to tie it up with a win in Game Four Wednesday night at home. Guys like McGinn are going to have to seize the moment if they are to do the unthinkable to the reigning champs this post-season.

Lucas Wallmark scored his first career post-season goal in Saturday's 4-3 OT loss to the Capitals.

Fantasy Impact: Wallmark now has three points in his first ever two post-season games played.

Martinook scored what proved to be the game winner late in the second period. It was the Canes and Golden Knights first contest since the All-Star break. The Hurricanes are now riding a four game points streak and have won 10 out of their last 14 games.

Fantasy Impact: Martinook’s goal was his 11th of the season. That ties his single season career high in goals. It was his first goal since January 20th against Edmonton. On the season the Manitoba native has 14 points with 11 goals and 3 assists.

Nino Neiderreiter scored 2, second period goals, in a 5-2 win against the Canucks. The win concluded the Hurricanes western Canada road swing. In search of a wild card spot, the Canes collected 5 out of a possible 6 points on the trip.

Fantasy Impact: Since being acquired via a trade with Minnesota on January 17th, Neiderreiter has been impressive. Wednesday night was his second 2 goal game, in only his fourth as a Cane. On the season “El Nino” has 27 points with 13 goals and 14 assists. Keep an eye on him to see if his hot play continues after the All-Star break.

Darling also allowed two shootout goals in the 6-5 loss on Friday, saving 24 of 29 shots.

Fantasy Impact: With a dreary 2-4-0-2 record, 3.33 GAA and .884 save pct, Darling should not be played in fantasy and I would not be surprised if the Canes try very hard to avoid playing him in real life.

Pesce helped Andrei Svechnikov in the first period and Sebastian Aho in the third period of a crazy game that ended in a 6-4 defeat by Montreal.

Fantasy Impact: Although he looks healthy (with three points in the four games since his return from injury), Pesce only has six points overall in 21 games and should not be played in fantasy.
