FanDuel MLB Value Plays: Wednesday (5/10)

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of FanDuel MLB value plays. Tonight we have a nine games to work with on the main slate on FanDuel. As always, be sure to check the weather and the team lineups as they are released to make sure these players are in fact active. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite value options for the day.

Pitcher

Luis Perdomo (SD): $6,500 vs. TEX
From top to bottom, the overall landscape for pitching is pretty grim tonight. If you want take a shot on a cheap pitcher and load up on bats in GPPs, consider using Luis Perdomo against the Rangers. Perdomo is pitching nearly a whole run better than his 4.03 ERA indicates, with a 3.06 FIP. The Rangers did put up 11 runs yesterday afternoon, but that was against Jered Weaver, who is one of the worst starting pitchers in all of baseball. Overall, the Rangers have only been middle of the pack against right-handed pitchers in 2017 while striking out 23.5% of the time.

Catcher

Yasmani Grandal (LAD): $2,900 vs. PIT
Grandal is starting to heat up with seven hits in his last four games, including his third home run of the season last night. Tonight he has a solid matchup against Chad Kuhl, who has really struggled against left-handed hitters this season, allowing a 0.498 wOBA and a hard contact rate of 41.7%.

First Base

Logan Morrison (TB): $2,900 vs. KC
Morrison has crushed right-handed pitching this season with a 0.387 wOBA and a 0.310 ISO. Jason Hammel has been decent this season against left-handed hitters with a 0.304 wOBA, but he’s still allowing a hard contact rate of 32.0%.

Second Base

Brandon Drury (ARI): $2,700 vs. DET
Drury has been solid in 2017 with a 0.338 wOBA and almost all of the Diamondback hitters have really excelled in their hitter-friendly home ballpark. Tonight he has a decent matchup against Matt Boyd, who has not been great by an any means against right-handed hitters.

Third Base

Evan Longoria (TB): $3,000 vs. KC
Value at third base position is pretty thin tonight, so I recommend either paying up or not going any cheaper than Longoria. Longoria does not have much to show yet for his 2017 season, but it appears that he has been a little unlucky so far with a hard contact rate of 38.2%.

Shortstop

Jorge Polanco (MIN): $2,600 at CHW
Polanco does not have great numbers so far with only a 0.310 wOBA against left-handed pitchers. However, it appears it will be only a matter of time until that number jumps up a little bit. Polanco has been making pretty solid contact with a hard contact rate of 35.9% against left-handed pitchers.

Outfielders

Brandon Guyer (CLE): $2,400 at TOR
Anytime there if a left-handed pitcher on the mound, Guyer is a solid value option to use since he typically hits in the middle of the order and he has a career 0.366 wOBA. Francisco Liriano has really struggled against righties this season, allowing a 0.393 wOBA.

Joc Pederson (LAD): $2,900 vs. PIT
I already mentioned how Kuhl has really struggled with left-handed bats, so Pederson is another Dodger who we can use tonight. Pederson is always a solid candidate for your GPP lineups since he is capable of hitting multiple home runs on any given day.

Magneuris Sierra (STL): $2,100 at MIA
If you are looking for a punt option at near minimum salary tonight, consider using Sierra. The Cardinals called Sierra up straight from Single-A and he has been impressive in three starts so far, with five hits and five runs. Tonight he has an outstanding matchup against Tom Koehler, who has been atrocious against left-handed hitters, allowing a 0.510 wOBA.
