Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 15

Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 15

Welcome to the dreaded injury report. Professional football is a violent game, and your fantasy players are going to miss time because of it. Week 15 saw arguably the biggest name in fantasy go down as well as a couple others. As always, hopefully, you don’t have many names on this list.

Antonio Brown (WR – PIT)
The undisputed best WR in the NFL and the best WR since Jerry Rice will not be playing any more football in the year 2017. Antonio Brown suffered a slight calf tear on a deep end zone target and will miss the rest of the regular season. The Steelers may get him back for the divisional round of the playoffs, but that will do fantasy owners no good. AB got you to the fantasy semifinal, but if you survived his loss, you will have to win the title without him. Martavis Bryant and JuJu Smith-Schuster will see an uptick in targets in Brown’s absence.

Davante Adams (WR – GB)
Another WR1 went down Sunday in Davante Adams. He took a vicious blindside hit from Thomas Davis after an Aaron Rodgers interception that will almost certainly result in a fine. This is Adams’ second concussion of the season. After his first, which looked far worse, he didn’t miss a game. It is unlikely that he will be able to return as quickly this time. Randall Cobb will see an increase in snaps and could have WR3 value.

Jeremy Maclin (WR – BAL)
Jeremy Maclin hasn’t been very fantasy relevant, but he did suffer a knee injury early in the Ravens win over the Browns. The severity is currently unknown, but you weren’t starting Maclin anyway.

Marqise Lee (WR – JAX)
The Jaguars blasted the Texans on Sunday but did so without Marqise Lee, who sustained a high ankle sprain early in the contest. After he departed, Jaydon Mickens and Keelan Cole combined to post 11 catches for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Mickens strikes me as more of a flash in the pan, but Cole is legitimately talented and a startable option in Week 16 as I do not expect Lee to be able to go.

Rex Burkhead (RB – NE)
Rex Burkhead had already found the end zone before he departed Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh with a knee injury. A torn ACL was ruled out, but Burkhead is not going to play in Week 16. He had been on an incredible touchdown run. Now, Mike Gillislee will probably be active again but expect Dion Lewis and James White to handle the majority of snaps.
