Early Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 16 (Fantasy Football)

Early Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 16 (Fantasy Football)

It’s the final early waiver wire article of the season… Can you believe it?? The bulk of Week 15 action is in the books and already we have some early waiver wire pickups for fantasy owners to check out to get a jump on the competition for Week 16.

Hopefully, if you’re reading, you’ve made it to your fantasy championship! That’s quite an accomplishment, but it falls just short of the ultimate goal. In preparation for fantasy championship week and taking home that coveted league title, let’s take a look at early suggestions for your waiver wire, including the player’s Yahoo! ownership and upcoming schedule. Players listed here typically have under 30% ownership. Thanks so much for tuning in every Sunday night this season, and good luck to everyone in their games next week!

Note: Hunter Henry will not be a recommended add this week, even after a marquee performance against Derrick Johnson in Week 15.

Running Backs

Kalen Ballage (RB – MIA): 1% owned
The former Sun Devil led Miami’s backfield in touches in Week 15, racking up a 12-123-1 line on the ground and losing two yards on his only reception. His highlight was a 75-yard score where he flashed his electric speed. Even in a tough matchup against the Jags next week, Ballage could be in for a big game. Frank Gore exited early with a foot injury and Kenyan Drake has been underwhelming this season. Miami would be smart to give its fourth-round pick a long look over the final two games of the season. Add now for championship week.
Next week: JAX

Jamaal Williams (RB – GB): 15% owned
He gained 97 yards on 16 touches after Aaron Jones went down early with what could be a sprained MCL. The Packers have been eliminated from playoff contention, but volume still means a lot and Williams would be Green Bay’s unquestioned lead back in a matchup at the Jets in Week 16. He needs to be added.
Next week: @NYJ

Darrel Williams (RB – KC): 1% owned
Damien Williams was dangerously under-owned before Spencer Ware was announced as doubtful for Week 15. Williams only had four touches but he did score a TD and KC has used a different lead back for three weeks in a row. Williams needs to be added for insurance.
Next week: @SEA

Elijah McGuire (RB – NYJ): 32% owned
McGuire totaled 71 yards and a TD on 21 touches in Week 15’s loss to the Texans. Isaiah Crowell is on the IR and EMG is the lead back with an easier matchup at home against a reeling Packers team in Week 16. His backup Trenton Cannon (1% owned, 10 touches in Week 15) is also worth an add as McGuire was limited in practice earlier in the week.
Next week: GB

Other RBs to consider: Rex Burkhead (RB – NE) 19% owned, Alfred Blue (RB – HOU) 8% owned, Zach Zenner (RB – DET) 1% owned

Wide Receivers

Tim Patrick (WR – DEN): 1% owned and DaeSean Hamilton (WR – DEN): 23% owned
Patrick led the Broncos in receiving yards with 56 yards and Hamilton led the team in receptions and targets with seven and 12 respectively. Both have been more productive than Courtland Sutton in two games without Emmanuel Sanders and a draw against the Raiders isn’t scary next week. Neither offer a ton of upside but either can be started in a pinch for the final week of the fantasy playoffs.
Next week: OAK

Robert Foster (WR – BUF): 13% owned
Foster went for his second straight 100-yard game, finishing with a 4-108-1 line. He’s now topped 90 yards or scored in four of five including three 100-yard efforts. A recommended add last week, Foster needs to be picked up for a divisional showdown with New England in fantasy championship week.
Next week: @NE

Robby Anderson (WR – NYJ): 26% owned
He’s put together an 11-172-2 line in his last two games. With the Jets receiving corps ravaged by injuries, he makes for a nice add playing Green Bay next week.
Next week: GB

Other WRs to consider: Jamison Crowder (WR – WAS) 22% owned, Trent Sherfield (WR – ARI) 0% owned

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen (QB – BUF): 23% owned
He’s been featured in this article a couple of Sundays in a row and he had another solid showing against Detroit in Week 15, totaling 204 passing yards, one passing score, and no picks. He added his third rushing TD in four games and second in a row. He should have a great game against a Packers team that looks to have already mailed it in.
Next week: @NE

Other QBs to consider: Marcus Mariota (QB – TEN) 34% owned, Case Keenum. (QB – DEN) 19% owned

Tight Ends

Matt LaCoss (TE – DEN): 7% owned
A 4-43 line on six targets won’t give you anything to write home about but it’s a scarce year for TE and Denver gets the Raiders’ most TE-friendly defense for fantasy championship week.
Next week: @OAK

Other TEs to consider: Chris Herndon (TE – NYJ) 12% owned

D/STs

Miami Dolphins: 18% owned
Next week: JAX

Cleveland Browns: 11% owned
Next week: CIN
