Adalberto Mondesi (SS – KC)
Mondesi was placed on the 10-day injured list July 17 with a partially dislocated left shoulder. The injury occurred as he dived to make a catch on Tuesday. Mondesi said he felt a pop as he hit the ground. An MRI on Wednesday revealed the dislocated shoulder. He is going to be re-evaluated in seven days, but there is currently no timetable for his return.

Eloy Jimenez (OF – CHW)
Jimenez went on the 10-day injured list July 17 with a right ulnar nerve contusion. The injury occurred when he collided with Charlie Tilson while trying to catch a fly ball. He is expected to be re-evaluated Monday, and it’s not clear when he will be able to return.

Zack Wheeler (SP – NYM)
The Mets placed Wheeler on the injured list July 15 with a shoulder impingement. He felt good after throwing a bullpen session over the weekend, and the Mets are optimistic that he can return before the end of July. This is significant because his health could impact his value on the trade market.

Byron Buxton (OF – MIN)
Buxton went on the seven-day injured list July 16, retroactive to July 14, with concussion-like symptoms. He participated in pre-game activities Sunday and could return early this week.

Jonathan Schoop (2B – MIN)
Schoop was out of the lineup July 17-19 with a mild abdominal strain. He returned Saturday but sat again for Luis Arraez on Sunday.

Willson Contreras (C – CHC)
The Cubs placed Contreras on the 10-day injured list July 16, retroactive to July 14, with a right foot strain. He is expected to resume baseball activities early this week and could return once eligible on Wednesday.

Kevin Kiermaier (OF – TB)
Kiermaier injured his thumb while sliding into first base Saturday and landed on the 10-day injured list. Fortunately, an MRI showed the ligaments are intact, and he is expected to miss 10-15 days.

Brandon Woodruff (SP – MIL)
Woodruff went on the IL after straining his left oblique during Sunday’s start against Arizona. The All-Star is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to reveal the injury’s severity, but it seems likely he will miss at least a few weeks.

Andrew Heaney (SP – LAA)
Heaney was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with shoulder inflammation. It’s not clear at this point when he might be able to return.

Chris Taylor (2B/SS/OF – LAD)
Taylor fractured his left forearm after getting hit by a pitch on July 14. He was placed on the 10-day injured list the following day, and it is not clear when he will return.

Max Fried (SP – ATL)
Atlanta sent Fried to the 10-day injured list July 16 with a blister on his left index finger. He might be able to return later this week.

Matt Carpenter (3B – STL)
Carpenter fouled a ball off his foot July 15. Although X-rays came back negative, he was placed on the 10-day injured list the next day and spent the next days in a boot. The injury is officially listed as a foot contusion. He does not currently have a timetable for his return.

Jay Bruce (1B/OF – PHI)
Bruce was placed on the 10-day injured list July 17 with an oblique strain. He does not currently have a timetable for his return.

Shawn Kelley (RP – TEX)
Before throwing an official pitch Sunday, Kelley felt discomfort right biceps tendon while warming up and exited the game. The 35-year-old closer is expected to undergo an MRI soon. Any missed time could lead to save opportunities for Jose Leclerc in Texas.

Updating Previous Injuries

Max Scherzer (SP – WSH): Back
Scherzer is dealing with an inflamed bursa sac in his back and landed on the injured list July 13, retroactive to July 10. He received a cortisone injection July 16 and played catch. He hopes to return this Thursday.

Jimmy Nelson (SP – MIL): Elbow
Nelson has been on the injured list since June 28 with fluid in his elbow. He allowed one run in one inning during a Single-A rehab outing Sunday, but it is not yet clear when he will return to the Brewers. The role is also uncertain, as he shifted to the bullpen right before getting sidelined.

Kevin Gausman (SP – ATL): Foot
On the injured list since June 11 with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, Gausman made a successful return Sunday night. He yielded just one run over seven innings, recording eight strikeouts to no walks on just 83 pitches against the Nationals.

Dylan Bundy (SP – BAL): Knee
Baltimore placed Bundy on the 10-day injured list July 13 with tendinitis in his right knee. After throwing a bullpen July 17 and again this weekend, he’s scheduled to start for the Orioles on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Zack Cozart (3B – LAA): Shoulder
Out since May 28, Cozart underwent season-ending surgery on his left shoulder on July 17.

Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS – COL): Shoulder
Rodgers also went shoulder surgery last Wednesday to end an underwhelming debut season.

Carlos Correa (SS – HOU): Rib
Sidelined since May 29 with a fractured rib, Correa began a Triple-A rehab assignment July 15 and is expected to return to the Astros this Friday.

Brad Peacock (SP/RP – HOU): Shoulder
Peacock, out with shoulder discomfort since June 28, was scratched from July 15’s scheduled rehab assignment when experiencing soreness after a bullpen session. While an MRI revealed no structural damage, he’s a few days away from playing catch. He’s out until at least mid-August.
