Greetings, friends, and welcome to Week 14 of our Main Slate GPP Advice series. As always, we’ll be focused on GPP contests and players you can use to fill out your lineups while saving some of your budget. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP targets for this week.
GPP means we are going to look for value and take big swings. You shouldn’t have every player below in your DFS lineups. These are players with upside to target so that you can save money to use on higher-priced studs. We are going to identify value. We are going to monitor injury situations. We are going to take some risks. And most importantly, we are going to make some money.
As a general reminder, these are how most FanDuel and DraftKings contests are formatted:
- FanDuel $60,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($6,667 average price per position)
- DraftKings: $50,000 salary cap, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DEF ($5,555 average price per position)

The players below are ones I’m looking at for large-field tournament considerations for Week 14 main slates:
Quarterbacks
FanDuel
Derek Carr (LV - QB) : $7,200 vs. KC
Derek Carr is QB16 in terms of price on FanDuel's full slate this week, but he finished as the QB7 overall when he faced this same Chiefs team back in Week 10. Last week against Washington, Carr completed 28 of his 38 passes but didn't throw any touchdowns or interceptions and ended up as QB20. But the week before? QB8 against the Cowboys even though he only threw for one touchdown pass thanks to 373 yards passing. He has attempted 34 or more passes in five of his last six games and should be throwing the ball often against the Chiefs, especially if Kansas City gets out to an early lead.
Jimmy Garoppolo (SF - QB): $6,700 vs. CIN
Jimmy G isn't the sexiest name when it comes to fantasy, but he has been putting up solid numbers for several weeks. Garoppolo has tossed at least two touchdown passes in five of his last six games. With the 49ers down potentially multiple running backs, they may very well lean on Garoppolo to throw the ball more in this one, even if it's mostly shorter passes. He's priced at just QB19 on FanDuel's main slate in Week 14 and is a perfect lineup builder for GPP contests.
DraftKings
Taysom Hill (NO - QB): $5,600 vs. NYJ
Taysom Hill may not be the sexiest passer, but 1. He can run, and 2. He's playing a Jets defense that just got lit up by Gardner Minshew. His $5,600 price tag on DraftKings puts him out of QB1 territory, which makes him an ideal GPP target. He put up 28 fantasy points against the Cowboys last week despite throwing four interceptions, and it's unlikely he has as much trouble passing against this New York defense in Week 14. He's listed as questionable due to mallet finger but is expected to play.
Cam Newton (CAR - QB): $5,400 vs. ATL
If you think Taysom Hill is a hard sell, you may want to skip the Cam Newton portion of our article. The Panthers had their bye week in Week 13 (and oddly fired their offensive coordinator halfway through it), and Newton was as bad as it gets in Week 12 against the Dolphins. But he was the QB5 overall in fantasy just a week earlier against Washington, and it's fair to expect at least a temporary bump in offensive production given the bye week and the new coordinator.
Running Backs
FanDuel
JaMycal Hasty (SF - RB): $4,700 vs. CIN
It's next-man-up time in San Francisco. This week, it looks like it's going to be JaMycal Hasty. With Elijah Mitchell in the concussion protocol, Jeff Wilson dealing with a knee injury, and Trey Sermon on injured reserve, Hasty suddenly has fantasy appeal for Week 14. At $4,700, he's RB94 on FanDuel, which means he is essentially free. If the injuries to those other running backs keep them out of action, you are almost obligated to have Hasty in a few of your lineups at this price.
Josh Jacobs (LV - RB): $7,100 vs. KC
Josh Jacobs is still priced as an RB1 on FanDuel, but it's the low end of RB1 territory at just $7,100. He has finished as an RB1 over the last two weeks, and he caught NINE passes last week against Washington. With Kenyan Drake out for the season, Jacobs should continue to see a steady workload through the final month of the season. And that includes this week against the Chiefs, when the Raiders will need to lean on their veteran running back. His increased usage as a pass-catcher out of the backfield raises his floor, making him an affordable lineup builder in GPP contests.
DraftKings
Antonio Gibson (WAS - RB): $6,000 vs. DAL
Antonio Gibson has been a different running back since being able to rest up over the bye week, and he has finished as the RB6 overall in Half PPR in three of his last four games, receiving at least 23 carries in all three of those games. At just $6,000 on DraftKings this week, he's priced as RB21 on the full slate. It's hard to find this kind of workload with this price tag, so take it where you can get it.
Jamaal Williams (DET - RB): $5,500 vs. DEN
D'Andre Swift missed Week 13 against the Vikings due to an AC joint sprain and has yet to practice this week. That paves the way for Jamaal Williams to once again have a bigger role in the Detroit offense. It isn't the best offense, but volume is important, especially in DFS. At RB22 on the DraftKings main slate, Williams is an affordable lineup builder who could be looking at 20 touches against the Broncos.
Wide Receivers
FanDuel
Amari Cooper (DAL - WR): $6,700 vs. WAS
After a lackluster return against the Saints last week, Amari Cooper's roster% should be lower than usual this week. But he's had 10 days to get back into game shape after missing two games due to a positive COVID test, and he should be back to a full workload against Washington. He's priced as the WR17 on FanDuel at just $6,700, making him a perfect GPP candidate.
Elijah Moore (NYJ - WR): $6,300 vs. NO
Elijah Moore is emerging as the top pass catcher in New York (really New Jersey, but I digress), and his role should only grow with the loss of Corey Davis. Over his last three games, Moore has 31 targets. Oh, and he has shown to have a nose for the end zone, scoring six touchdowns in seven games since the team's Week 6 bye. He's only $6,300 on FanDuel, pricing him as WR27.
DraftKings
Russell Gage (ATL - WR): $5,700 vs. CAR
Russell Gage has finished as a WR1 the last two weeks but is priced as the *checks notes* WR29 on the DraftKings full slate this week. Last week against the Buccaneers, Gage caught 11 of his 12 targets for 130 yards. Over his last three weeks combined, he has 27 targets and 241 yards receiving. This is WR1 volume at a WR3 price on DraftKings.
Mike Williams (LAC - WR): $6,000 vs. NYG
We have to make sure that Mike Williams is actually activated and plays, but it sounds like that could happen as early as Saturday. He was a close contact with Keenan Allen, who tested positive, but Williams has continued to test negative. He's only $6,000 on DraftKings and should see plenty of targets against a bad Giants defense with Allen out of the lineup.
Tight Ends
FanDuel
Ricky Seals-Jones (WAS - TE): $3,600 vs. DAL
Unfortunately for the Washington Football Team (and Dan Harris), Logan Thomas is done for the season after injuring his knee last week and landing back on injured reserve on Wednesday. Enter Ricky Seals-Jones. RSJ has been dealing with a hip injury himself and has missed the last few games but has been trending in the right direction, and the team reportedly expects him to play. From Weeks 5-7, he caught 15 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, and he's an affordable option in GPP contests in Week 14 against the Cowboys.
DraftKings
Gerald Everett (SEA - TE): $3,500 vs. HOU
Gerald Everett actually scored negative points for fantasy managers in Week 13, catching four passes for seven yards and losing a pair of fumbles. As a result, he is only projected to be in 1-5% of DFS contests this week. But Everett caught five passes for 37 yards and a touchdown the week before against Washington, finishing as the TE6 overall in Half PPR. Seattle is looking to get their passing game going against a bad Texans team in Week 14, and Everett is priced as the TE16 on the DraftKings main slate at just $3,500.
Defense/Special Teams
FanDuel
Los Angeles Chargers (LAC - DST): $4,300 vs. NYG
The Chargers defense has not been very good this season, allowing at least 20 points in 10 of their 12 games and allowing 34 or more points in three of those contests. But they recorded six sacks against the Bengals last week and are facing a bad Giants offense that will be quarterbacked by either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm.
DraftKings
New Orleans Saints (NO - DST): $3,600 vs. NYJ
The Saints have a good defense. The Jets have a bad offense. Saints, meet Jets. Jets, meet Saints. You two should get along swimmingly. Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson doesn't look like he is quite ready to compete at the NFL level, but New York is letting him learn on the job and take his lumps. He struggled against a bad Eagles defense last week and will be without wide receiver Corey Davis for the rest of the season.
