Justin Fields (QB – CHI) vs. Green Bay Packers (46.8% Rostered)

Last week Fields only scored 13.6 fantasy points against the San Francisco 49ers. However, he gets a pass given the awful weather conditions. Despite all the rain and terrible field conditions, Fields threw a pair of touchdowns. Furthermore, he added 28 yards on the ground on 11 attempts, finishing second on the team in rushing yards. More importantly, Fields had 121 passing yards and two touchdowns despite Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet combining for one reception and eight receiving yards.

The good news is the game this week shouldn’t include a soaked field. Furthermore, the Packers were ripped apart by Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota passing attack last week. Cousins completed 71.9% of his passes against the Packers. He threw for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Jefferson. More importantly, Fields had 224 passing yards, two touchdowns, 74 rushing yards, and 18.4 fantasy points in his previous matchup against the Packers. He will shine when the lights come on Sunday night.

Carson Wentz (QB – WAS) vs. Detroit Lions (16.6% Rostered)

For those who still believe in Wentz, Sunday’s performance had to feel good. Yes, the Commanders’ quarterback did throw a pair of interceptions, but they were overshadowed by his four-touchdown performance in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. More importantly, Wentz didn’t crumble under pressure. He threw two touchdowns in the final 10 minutes of the game, including the game-winner to Jahan Dotson with under two minutes to go. Furthermore, his 313 passing yards were the fourth-most for Week 1 entering the Monday night matchup.

Meanwhile, the Lions only gave up 243 passing yards and zero passing touchdowns to Jalen Hurts in Week 1. However, the Philadelphia quarterback completed 56.3% of his pass attempts. While the Eagles didn’t have a passing touchdown in the game, A.J. Brown had his way with the Detroit secondary. The former Ole Miss star had 155 yards and 10 receptions last week, ranking first in both categories entering the Monday night game. More importantly, three Washington wide receivers scored over 13.5 PPR fantasy points in Week 1. While he likely won’t repeat his 27.7 fantasy point performance from last week, Wentz should end the week no lower than a high-end QB2.

Marcus Mariota (QB – ATL) vs. Los Angeles Rams (3.9% Rostered)

Of all the Week 1 surprise performances, Mariota’s is arguably the most meaningful. The last time he started a game was in 2019 with the Tennessee Titans. However, the last time Mariota averaged more than 12.5 fantasy points per game for the season was in 2017. Despite a long history of limited fantasy production, the veteran quarterback was impressive against a talented New Orleans Saints defense last week. He threw for 215 yards while adding another 72 yards and a touchdown on the ground, ending the game with 19.8 fantasy points. More importantly, Mariota was a QB1 in Week 1 despite Kyle Pitts struggling.

Atlanta’s second-year tight end was shut down by the New Orleans defense, as he had only two receptions for 19 yards on seven targets. Meanwhile, the rookie Drake London was solid with his seven targets, catching five for a team-high 74 receiving yards. While the Falcons face the Rams this week, Josh Allen tore their defense apart for three passing touchdowns, 56 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown last week. The Rams will rebound this week and blow out the Falcons. However, that means a more negative game script for the Falcons and more opportunities to run for Mariota.
