Wednesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
The top pitcher has a track record of dominating from the bump at home and faces a struggling offense tonight. The second-ranked pitcher has a cushy matchup and can be paired with the top option at DK in cash games. The final suggestion is a rookie who's flashed his potential since he was recalled from the minors.
Cash Game Recommendations:
Logan Webb (SF) vs. ARI
Webb is the epitome of an ace when he gets the ball in San Francisco. According to FanGraphs, in 242.0 innings at home since 2021, Webb has had a 2.42 ERA, 2.74 xFIP, 1.10 WHIP, 60.4 GB%, 5.4 BB% and 25.5 K%.
Fortunately, the Diamondbacks might not provide him with much resistance tonight. They're mired in a funk. In the previous 30 days, Arizona is tied for 24th in wRC+ (89) and has a 22.8 K%. Thus, per Betting Pros, the Giants are -180, and the game's total is 8.5 runs. So, Webb is the most appealing starting pitcher on a slate with stellar options.
Kodai Senga (NYM) at KC
Senga is in a groove. In his previous four starts spanning 23.1 innings, he's had a 1.93 ERA, 2.99 xFIP, 0.86 WHIP, 7.7 BB%, 31.9 K% and 30.8 CSW%. The righty should stay hot in a superb matchup tonight.
The Royals are 30th in wRC+ (80) and have a 23.9 K% versus righties in 2023. They're also tied for 22nd in wRC+ (90) and have a 22.1 K% in the last 30 days. And Kansas City is 29th in wRC+ (87) at home this year.
In addition, the betting info is favorable. The Mets are -200. Although, the game's total of 9.5 runs isn't perfect for Senga's outlook.
GPP Recommendation:
Grayson Rodriguez (BAL) at TOR
Rodriguez was roughed up in his first taste of the majors earlier this year. Thankfully, he responded well to a demotion to Triple-A and has pitched well since he was recalled. In his three most recent starts totaling 17.0 innings, Rodriguez has had a 3.18 ERA, 3.64 xFIP, 1.12 WHIP, 9.2 BB%, 21.5 K%, 29.5 CSW%, 124 Stuff+, 100 Location+ and 107 Pitching+.
The matchup is challenging. Yet, Rodriguez's blistering pitch modeling is worth taking on a chance on in tournaments, especially since he's unlikely to be chalky.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Giants have been dreadful at the dish for approximately a month. Nevertheless, they have a get-right matchup against a debuting righty tonight. Slade Cecconi is leaping from Double-A to the majors, despite sporting a 6.38 ERA and 5.52 xFIP in 20 starts (103.0 innings) at the Double-A level this season. So, the Giants can greet him rudely in his first start in the majors.

The Reds were on the receiving end of a beatdown last night. However, they scored nine runs. And they have a good matchup tonight. In Drew Smyly's previous five appearances (three starts) spanning 21.2 innings, he's had a 6.65 ERA and 4.03 xFIP. Smyly also allowed 2.08 HR/9 in those turns.
- Matt McLain has four homers, two stolen bases, a .397 OBP, .290 ISO and 169 wRC+ in 68 plate appearances against lefties in his rookie season.
- In 133 plate appearances against lefties since reaching the majors last year, Spencer Steer has had eight homers, two stolen bases, a .383 OBP, .271 ISO and 154 wRC+.
- Joc Pederson has 11 homers, a .370 OBP, .239 ISO and 136 wRC+ in 219 plate appearances against righties this year.
- LaMonte Wade is the first player to get a crack at the debuting Cecconi and is the perfect table setter, sporting a .417 OBP and 140 wRC+ in 290 plate appearances against righties this year.
- In 466 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Amed Rosario has had a .345 OBP, .172 ISO and 127 wRC+.
- Chris Taylor has had a .322 OBP, .216 ISO and 110 wRC+ in 396 plate appearances against lefties since 2021.
Wednesday's Hitter Strategy
The Giants and the Reds are the most exciting sources of hitters tonight. But the Dodgers also have a pair of appealing values/punts.
