20 Fantasy Baseball Things to Watch

- The following teams have just five games this week:
- Chicago Cubs vs. LAD, vs. PHI
- Los Angeles Dodgers at CHC, vs. PIT
- The following teams have seven games this week:
- Boston Red Sox vs. CWS, vs. SEA, at CLE
- Chicago White Sox at BOS, at MIN, at ATH
- Milwaukee Brewers at SF, at STL
- San Francisco Giants vs. MIL, vs. TEX
2. Patriots’ Day
Today is Patriots’ Day, which means the first pitch in the Red Sox and White Sox game is at 11:10 a.m. ET. Make sure your lineups are set.
3. Chandler Simpson (OF – TB)
Chandler Simpson is a top-100 prospect who made his debut last week for the Rays. Simpson is best known for his incredible speed. He may be the fastest player in Major League Baseball since Billy Hamilton.
Simpson stole 104 bases in the Minors last season. There is a chance he doesn’t stay up too long in the Majors, but he might steal a ton of bases in the meantime.
4. Logan Henderson (SP – MIL)
Logan Henderson is another top-100 prospect who made his debut last week and looked great, throwing six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out nine Athletics in the victory.
Henderson has a fantastic change-up and great command, which could make him very interesting on a Brewers team in dire need of starting pitching.
5. Caleb Durbin (2B, 3B, SS – MIL)
Caleb Durbin, who was part of the Devin Williams trade, made his Major League debut for the Brewers. He was a popular sleeper coming into the season, but was unable to make the team.
Durbin offers a ton of speed. If he can play every day, he could steal 40 bases, but we need to see if the Brewers will give him a real chance.
6. Jose Quintana (SP – MIL)
Jose Quintana is making his season debut for the Brewers at just the right time. The Brewers have been crushed with injuries, and Quintana should be valuable for them. We need to see if he can be a fantasy-worthy pitcher after missing spring training.
7. Landen Roupp (SP, RP – SF) vs. Tobias Myers (SP – MIL)
Landen Roupp has looked fantastic this season and is facing off against Tobias Myers, who was great last year but missed the first part of the season with injury. Myers doesn’t have the stuff Roupp does, but this is a very interesting matchup of two very different fantasy-viable pitchers.
8. Chase Dollander (SP – COL)
Chase Dollnader has struggled in his first three starts, but his stuff is really good, and he will be heading to Kansas City, which is a nice park to pitch in. Being a Rockies starter is always difficult because of the conditions of Coors Field, but we need to see if he can make it work on the road.
9. Luke Keaschall (1B, 2B, OF – MIN)
Luke Keaschall has made his Major League debut. It started well, hitting .333 with a stolen base. He was great in the Minors in 2024, hitting .303/.420/.483 with 15 home runs and 23 stolen bases. There is some opportunity in Minnesota because of injuries, and Keaschall has some upside.
10. Pablo Lopez (SP – MIN) vs. Shane Smith (SP, RP – CWS)
Pablo Lopez has been on the injured list (IL) with a hamstring injury. He is expected back on Thursday to face the White Sox and Shane Smith. We need to see if Lopez is fully healthy and if Smith can keep his great rookie season going.
11-14. Streaming Options
Eduardo Rodriguez (SP – ARI) vs. TB
The Rays have struggled away from home and Eduardo Rodriguez has looked great this season.
Landen Roupp (SP, RP – SF) vs. MIL
Landen Roupp has been fantastic. The Brewers are struggling and heading to a pitcher’s park in San Francisco.
David Festa (SP – MIN) vs. CWS
David Festa looked great in his first start and now faces a terrible White Sox team.
Nick Martinez (SP, RP – CIN) at MIA
Nick Martinez has struggled this season, but he was fantastic on the road last year, and this is a fantastic matchup in a great park.
15-20. Two-Start Options
Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) vs. PIT, at MIN
Jose Soriano has pitched well despite his stuff not being as strong as it was last season. However, he has two nice matchups against struggling offenses, so you should be using him in most formats.
Osvaldo Bido (SP, RP – ATH) vs. TEX, vs. CWS
Osvaldo Bido has thrown 20.2 innings this season over four starts with a 2.61 ERA and 14 strikeouts. The only concern here is that the majority of his games have been on the road. Both of these games are in Sacramento, which has been a very hitter-friendly park. With the terrible White Sox on the docket, you are likely using him in all formats, but there is risk here.
Tylor Megill (SP – NYM) vs. PHI, at WAS
Tylor Megill has been fantastic this season, throwing 19.1 innings with a 1.40 ERA and 20 strikeouts. He has gotten lucky, but the skills have been great. As long as Megill is healthy, you are using him while these skills are intact.
Mitchell Parker (SP – WSH) vs. BAL, vs. NYM
Mitchell Parker has nice surface stats, but the stuff has been underwhelming. These are two decent matchups as the Orioles have struggled versus left-handed pitching this season and the Mets have been mediocre.
Clarke Schmidt (SP – NYY) at CLE, vs. TOR
Clarke Schmidt is back from the IL and was decent in his first start back. The fact that he was able to get through 5.2 innings in his first start was very encouraging. He has a decent two-step here and has the Yankees offense supporting him.
Jordan Hicks (SP, RP – SF) vs. MIL, vs. TEX
Jordan Hicks has struggled this season, but he has been unlucky with a 61% strand rate. The stuff is really good, but it relies upon the defense picking him up because he allows so much contact. There is risk here because of the high contact approach, but both of these games are in San Francisco, which is a great place to pitch.
