Tuesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Zack Wheeler (PHI) at ATL
Zack Wheeler and the Phillies are slight underdogs (EVEN) in Atlanta, but the game’s total is 7.0 runs because Chris Sale opposes Philadelphia’s ace. It could be a game of pitchers exchanging zeros on the scoreboard.
Wheeler is off to a blistering start this season. According to FanGraphs, he’s had the following stats in two starts spanning 13 innings.
- 1.38 ERA
- 2.54 xERA
- 1.95 xFIP
- 1.76 SIERA
- 0.54 WHIP
- One win
- Two quality starts
- 4.5 BB%
- 40.9 K%
- 16.8 SwStr%
- 32.7 CSW%
- 115 stuff+
- 113 location+
- 124 pitching+
Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley are formidable foes for Wheeler. Still, Atlanta’s lineup is top-heavy, and they’ve struggled mightily this season, ranking tied for 25th in wRC+ (73) with a 28.3 K% versus righties in 2025.
Shane Baz (TB) vs. LAA
Shane Baz’s 2024 season was mixed. The young righty had an excellent 3.06 ERA and 1.06 WHIP last year, but his 3.62 xERA, 4.39 xFIP and 4.33 SIERA ranged from OK to underwhelming. Baz was lights out in his season debut, though. He spun six scoreless innings, recording 10 strikeouts with 13.5 SwStr%, 35.4 CSW%, 108 stuff+, 105 location+ and 115 pitching+.
He can stay hot with a plus matchup and favorable betting info. Mike Trout is the Angels’ only elite hitter against righties, with a 144 wRC+ against righties since 2023. The others have had a 112 wRC+ or lower against righties since 2023 or debuting, and five of their projected hitters have had a 103 wRC+ or lower. Finally, the Rays are -162, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs, which isn’t terrifying since Tampa Bay is a notable favorite.
Cole Ragans (KC) vs. MIN
Cole Ragans has pitched like a front-of-the-rotation hurler. In 34 starts totaling 196.1 innings since last year, he’s had the following stats.
- 3.16 ERA
- 3.45 xFIP
- 3.48 SIERA
- 1.16 WHIP
- 11 wins
- 21 quality starts
- 8.8 BB%
- 29.3 K%
- 14.4 SwStr%
- 29.0 CSW%
- 112 stuff+
- 98 location+
- 111 pitching+
Ragans has a cushy matchup. Five of Minnesota’s projected starters have had a 99 wRC+ or lower against lefties since 2023, Byron Buxton has had a 103 wRC+ and Mickey Gasper has had only nine plate appearances against lefties since debuting in 2023, making Ryan Jeffers (136 wRC+) and Carlos Correa (132 wRC+) the only established lefty killers. So, the Royals are -118, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Remarkably, Patrick Corbin is in an MLB rotation again this season. He had a 5.62 ERA and 5.53 xERA in 32 starts last season. The 618 righties who faced Corbin last year teed off for a .374 wOBA. Chicago’s lineup should have seven batters hitting right-handed against Corbin tonight. Moreover, seven of their projected starters have had at least a 117 wRC+ against lefties since 2023 or debuting, and six have had at least a 129 wRC+. They should destroy Corbin tonight.
- Home (George M. Steinbrenner Field)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/TB -162
The Rays have an affordable stack, despite facing Kyle Hendricks tonight. In 29 appearances (24 starts) last year, Hendricks had a 5.92 ERA, 4.81 xERA, 4.59 xFIP and 4.83 SIERA. Additionally, since last year, he’s ceded a .366 wOBA to 303 lefties and a .310 wOBA to 288 righties. Thus, Tampa Bay’s lefties and righties can succeed tonight.
Core Studs
- In 317 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Seiya Suzuki has had nine homers, a .388 OBP, .185 ISO and 139 wRC+.
- In 56 plate appearances this year, Dansby Swanson has three homers, seven runs, seven RBIs, one stolen base, a .291 OBP, .245 ISO and 109 wRC+.
- In 35 plate appearances this year, Brandon Lowe has three homers, five runs, eight RBIs, a .342 OBP, .250 ISO and 154 wRC+.
Value Plays/Punts
- In 315 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Justin Turner has had 11 homers, a .368 OBP, .196 ISO and 132 wRC+.
- Gamers must pick Turner or Jonathan Aranda at DraftKings since they’re both eligible at only first base. Fortunately, they can be used on the same lineup at FanDuel. In 240 plate appearances against righties since 2023, Aranda has had nine homers, a .333 OBP, .203 ISO and 125 wRC+.
- In 99 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Carson Kelly has had three homers, a .394 OBP, .173 ISO and 138 wRC+.

Brandon Lowe: 6.5 Fantasy Points – Higher (Underdog)
In 754 plate appearances against righties since 2023, Lowe has had 40 homers, a .326 OBP, .234 ISO and 127 wRC+. Conversely, since last year, Hendricks has coughed up a .366 wOBA to left-handed batters.
Seiya Suzuki: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs – Higher (Sleeper) (1.64x)
Seiya Suzuki: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs – Higher (Underdog) (0.9x)
In 13 games and 63 plate appearances this year, Suzuki has 13 hits, nine runs, 12 RBIs, a .250 batting average, .365 OBP, .519 slugging, .269 ISO and 149 wRC+. He’s surpassed 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs six times this year. It’s been a coin flip whether Suzuki would go over this total. However, Corbin’s ineptitude against righties tilts in favor of Suzuki exceeding 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs. Finally, per Baseball Savant, in 12 plate appearances against Corbin, Suzuki has had four hits, two homers, a .400 batting average, .442 xBA, 1.000 slugging and 1.127 xSLG.
Dansby Swanson: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher (Sleeper) (2.27x)
Dansby Swanson: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher (Underdog) (1.23x)
Swanson is excellent against southpaws. In 296 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Swanson has had 44 singles, 15 doubles, one triple, 12 homers, a .275 batting average, .477 slugging and .202 ISO.
