Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Jose Soriano (LAA) at TEX
Jose Soriano is building on a successful 2024, when he moved to the rotation after a year in the bullpen. According to FanGraphs, in three starts spanning 20 innings this year, Soriano has a 2.70 ERA, 3.31 xERA, 3.08 xFIP, 3.45 SIERA, 1.00 WHIP, 24.3 K% and 65.2 GB%. So, Soriano does a stellar job of striking batters out and an elite job of coaxing worm-burners.
Soriano’s matchup isn’t excellent, but it’s not terrifying. The Rangers have only two projected starters with a wRC+ against righties since 2023 under 100. However, they also have only two with a wRC+ above 110. Additionally, the Angels are slight favorites (-115), but the game’s total is an alarmingly high 9.5 runs. Nevertheless, my confidence in Soriano exceeds the betting info for him on a slate with unexciting starting pitchers.
Brandon Pfaadt (ARI) at MIA
Brandon Pfaadt is mainly a matchup and betting info-driven DFS suggestion. Miami’s projected lineup has three hitters with a wRC+ of 70 or lower against righties since 2023 or debuting, and only two projected starters have had a wRC+ above 115. The Marlins also have some high-strikeout hitters, elevating Pfaadt’s ceiling.
Pfaadt’s 3.50 ERA in three starts this year has outperformed his 5.88 xERA. However, his 3.73 xFIP and 3.94 SIERA were rock-solid marks. The 26-year-old righty is good enough to tie up Miami’s non-threatening lineup, resulting in the Diamondbacks listed at -160 and the game’s total of 8.0 runs.
Kris Bubic (KC) at NYY
Kris Bubic is strictly a GPP pick. The Yankees have an explosive lineup capable of lighting up even MLB’s best starting pitchers. Still, GPP picks are all about having a high ceiling, and Bubic has a massive ceiling. Among tonight’s probable starters, Bubic is first in ERA (0.96), xERA (3.03), xFIP (2.99), SIERA (2.93), WHIP (0.96) and strikeout rate (27.6 K%). Bubic has a 14.7 SwStr% and 31.8 CSW%, supporting his high strikeout rate. His breakout looks like it’s legitimate.
Again, the Yankees have a potent lineup. However, they also have some soft spots. Jazz Chisholm (76 wRC+), Ben Rice (66 wRC+), Austin Wells (58 wRC+) and Oswald Peraza (47 wRC+) have struggled against southpaws since 2023 or debuting. In addition, six of New York’s projected starters have had at least a 25.0 K% versus lefties since 2023 or debuting, with four tallying at least a 26.0 K% and three amassing at least a 26.6 K%. As a result, Bubic can post a massive DFS score if he gets into a strikeout groove against a strikeout-prone lineup.

Suggested Lineup Stacks
Patrick Corbin is a target to stack against as long as teams inexplicably trot him out as a starting pitcher. Corbin allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with zero strikeouts in four innings against the Cubs in his only start this year. In 2024, Corbin had a 5.62 ERA, 5.53 xERA, 4.14 xFIP, 4.41 SIERA and 1.50 WHIP. He’s not an MLB-caliber starter and a punching bag for righties. The 633 righties who’ve faced Corbin since last year have had a .373 wOBA. Gamers can confidently stack the Angels tonight.
- Home (Citizens Bank Park)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 7.5 Runs/PHI -135
Robbie Ray‘s 2.93 ERA through three starts is entirely a fluke. He also has a 6.07 xERA, 5.47 xFIP, 5.34 SIERA, 16.1 BB% and 21.0 K%. The other shoe will drop if Ray doesn’t improve his underlying data, and the Phillies have the lineup to smash Ray. Seven of their projected starters have had at least a 111 wRC+ against southpaws since 2023, five have had at least a 123 wRC+ and three have had at least a 139 wRC+.
Core Studs
- In 296 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Jorge Soler has had 20 homers, a .385 OBP, .313 ISO and 160 wRC+.
- Bryce Harper is outstanding in same-handed matchups. In 424 plate appearances against southpaws since 2023, Harper has had 18 homers, a .376 OBP, .214 ISO and 141 wRC+.
- In 256 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Taylor Ward has had nine homers, a .367 OBP, .187 ISO and 136 wRC+.
Value Plays/Punts
- In 191 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Luis Rengifo has had five homers, a .382 OBP, .190 ISO and 149 wRC+.
- Alec Bohm has been stuck in the mud to open this season. Still, his track record against lefties is too good to ignore. In 367 plate appearances against lefties since 2023, Bohm has had 18 homers, a .327 OBP, .224 ISO and 126 wRC+.
- Jacob Wilson is having an excellent start to the year. In 66 plate appearances in 2025, Wilson has two homers, a .333 OBP, .152 ISO and 140 wRC+.

Wednesday’s Top 3 Sleeper and Underdog Player Props
Check out our best picks on the MLB Underdog Cheat Sheet
Brandon Pfaadt: 17.5 Pitching Outs – Higher (Sleeper) (1.37x)
Brandon Pfaadt: 17.5 Pitching Outs – Higher (Underdog) (0.81x)
Pfaadt has pitched precisely six innings in all three of his starts this season. Last year, he recorded at least 18 outs in 19 of 32 starts. Pfaadt should pitch at least six innings tonight in a cushy matchup against Miami’s unimposing lineup.
Jorge Soler: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher (Sleeper) (1.82x)
Jorge Soler: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher (Underdog)
In 16 games and 67 plate appearances this season, Soler has eight singles, three doubles, zero triples, four homers, a .263 batting average, .249 xBA, .526 slugging, .506 xSLG and .263 ISO. Soler also has a track record of success against southpaws, and Corbin isn’t an MLB-caliber starter anymore. Therefore, Soler should eclipse 1.5 total bases tonight.
Bryce Harper: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs – Higher (Sleeper) (1.80x)
Bryce Harper: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs – Higher (Underdog)
Harper’s excellence against southpaws matches nicely with Ray’s inability to tame left-handed batters. The 39 lefties who’ve faced Ray since last year have had a .273 batting average, .368 OBP, .485 slugging and .372 wOBA. Harper is also having a rock-solid start to the year. In 17 games and 76 plate appearances this year, Harper has 16 hits (11 singles, two doubles, zero triples and three homers), nine runs, seven RBIs, a .250 batting average, .285 xBA, .422 slugging and .531 xSLG. Therefore, we project Harper to have 2.34 hits plus runs and RBIs tonight.
