We will look at the main DFS slate today. The good news is the contests line up perfectly on both DraftKings and FanDuel. If you play in the 1:35 p.m. ET slate, you get the same 10 Major League games across both sites.

Sunday’s Top MLB DFS Picks & Player Props
Sunday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (4/13)
- This is a slate to pay up for a stud at starting pitcher because there are plenty of good options. The first one that stands out is Garrett Crochet. While expensive, Crochet is not the highest-priced option on either site, yet he has the most upside with his strikeout potential. Whether or not you believe in the revenge game narrative, you know the White Sox are a tantalizing matchup for a starting pitcher. They have scored the fourth-fewest runs this season.
- Especially on Fanduel, we’re getting a bit of a discount on Chris Sale. He has not been up to his exceptionally high standards early in the season, but he also has had three of the toughest matchups in baseball, facing the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies. Today’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays is a nice reprieve. The Rays have struggled mightily against left-handed pitchers this season with only a .563 OPS.
- Logan Webb’s value stands out on DraftKings. Early in the season, he has recorded more strikeouts than we have come to expect while not sacrificing the groundballs. He is currently at 21 strikeouts to only three walks. While the matchup against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium is difficult, you need to hit fly balls to get home runs. Webb currently has the second-lowest flyball percentage in baseball behind only Andre Pallante.

- We have already seen Jose Berrios take on the Baltimore Orioles once this season. It did not go well. He gave up three home runs, which led to six earned runs over five innings.
- Two players who took Berrios deep in that first game have impressive resumes against him. Adley Rutschman is 15-for-25 (.600) against Berrios in his career with four home runs. Cedric Mullins also hit a home run off Berrios in that first start of the season. He is 9-for-29 against Berrios in his career with five extra-base hits.
- A couple of cheaper Orioles options with good track records against Berrios are Ryan Mountcastle and Ryan O’Hearn. Each has two career home runs against Berrios. If you have to pick only one, pay up for O’Hearn, as he is 11-for-34 against Berrios in his career.

- The Detroit Tigers have a very left-handed lineup, which makes them a sneaky option against right-handed pitchers. Today, that opposing right-handed pitcher is Simeon Woods Richardson and his 57% fly-ball rate.
- Woods Richardson has only given up one home run this season. However, if you’re giving up that many fly balls, eventually a big home run game is coming. Today could be that day.
- The Tigers have the third-best OPS against right-handed pitchers at .818. Dillon Dingler is especially affordable on FanDuel. He is 11-for-20 against right-handed pitchers early this season with two home runs. Spencer Torkelson, Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter are all additional Tigers hitters who have multiple home runs against right-handed pitchers this season.

Core Studs
- You need to make sure Oneil Cruz is playing today. He missed yesterday’s game with an apparent finger injury. If Cruz is in the lineup, he has a track record of success against Hunter Greene. It’s only been 12 at-bats, but he has three extra-base hits, including two home runs.
- Even though Bobby Witt Jr. is batting over .300 and has six doubles, it feels like it has been a slow start for him. That’s simply because he only has one home run. Witt is going against Ben Lively today, who is giving up fly balls 51.2% of the time. Don’t be surprised when Witt adds to his home run total today.
- Elly De La Cruz is always an option with as much upside as anyone. As a switch-hitter, he is better against right-handed pitchers. In his career, he has an .849 OPS versus right-handed pitching as opposed to a .582 OPS versus left-handed pitching. Today’s opposing pitcher is right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski.
Value Plays/Punts
- If Kyren Paris keeps up his early-season production, he isn’t going to be this cheap for much longer. We have seen plenty of hot starts to a season fizzle out, but Paris is currently in the top percentiles in barrel rate, hard-hit rate and sprint speed. That demonstrates that while the average is unlikely to last, the power and speed seem real.
- Another player whose salary hasn’t yet caught up to the production is Ben Rice. He went 2-for-4 yesterday with his fourth home run of the season. One of the few Statcast pages that looks more impressive than Paris’ belongs to Ben Rice. He is currently in the top two percentiles in average exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.
- Nathaniel Lowe has always been better against right-handed pitching, but it has been comical this season. He currently has a .393/.469/.821 slash line against right-handed pitching. Against left-handed pitching, his slash line is .056/.056/.111. Today, he faces Cal Quantrill, who has an average exit velocity against of nearly 94 miles per hour (MPH).

Sunday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props
Going back to the start of last July, Cal Quantrill has made 14 starts. He has allowed five hits or more in 10 of those 14 starts (70% of the time). FantasyPros’ daily MLB projections have him at 5.77 hits allowed, showing they also believe this is an easy higher pick’em.
Adley Rutschman’s stellar history against Jose Berrios was already referenced above. As a reminder, he is 15-for-25 with six extra-base hits, including four home runs. With that much history of success, exceeding 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBI seems like a given.
MacKenzie Gore has already exceeded 5.5 strikeouts in two out of three games this season against the Dodgers and Phillies. If you go back to the start of August last season, he has cleared this mark in eight of his last 13 starts.
Today’s matchup is against the Miami Marlins, whom he faced three times last season. Gore easily exceeded 5.5 strikeouts in two of the matchups (10 and nine strikeouts), and just missed in the other with five strikeouts.
