George Kirby (SEA) vs. BAL
George Kirby has struggled in his three starts this year. Fortunately, his velocity is fine, and his pitch modeling is above average. Thus, better days should lie ahead for Kirby, and the betting info suggests they should start tonight. The Mariners are -162, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.
Kirby’s excellence at home is also a pro for DFS usage tonight. In 87.1 innings at home since last year, Kirby has had a 3.50 ERA, 3.44 xFIP, 1.05 WHIP, 3.4 BB% and 24.7 K%. Finally, while the Orioles are tied for sixth in wRC+ (110) with a 23.7 K% versus righties this season, their lineup is ravaged by injuries, and they’re lousy on the road, ranking tied for 23rd in wRC+ (86) with a 24.1 K%.
Landen Roupp (SF) vs. SD
Landen Roupp has pitched well lately, albeit with some good luck on his side. In his past five starts spanning 26 innings, he’s spun a 1.73 ERA, albeit with a 3.82 xFIP and 3.94 SIERA. Still, Roupp also had a 1.19 WHIP, 5.3 BB%, 18.6 K%, 47.6 GB%, 28.7 CSW%, 97 stuff+, 110 location+ and 106 pitching+ as well. He hasn’t beaten himself with free passes, and two of his three pitch-modeling marks were excellent.
Roupp has a decent matchup tonight. The Padres are tied for 14th in wRC+ (104) with an 18.4 K% versus righties and tied for 17th in wRC+ (94) with a 20.3 K% on the road this year. Thus, the Giants are -150, and the game’s total is 7.5 runs.
