Now that the season is at the halfway mark, you should be grinding the fantasy baseball two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition.
Each week, I will be giving you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues broken up into the following tiers:
- Must Start: The guys that you have to start because of their talent and/or matchups.
- Should Start: These are the guys that are rostered in most formats and probably should be in your lineup.
- Here We Go: Pitchers that you are probably starting in most formats but have some level of risk to them.
- Feeling Lucky: Pitchers that are risky, but viable in deeper formats.
- Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no other choice.
Make sure you are aware that when making fantasy baseball start or sit decisions that these projected two-start pitchers are subject to change.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers
These are projected two-start pitchers and are subject to change.
Must Start
Merrill Kelly (SP – ARI) at SD, at LAA
Nick Pivetta (SP – SD) vs ARI, vs PHI
Dylan Cease (SP – SD) vs ARI, vs PHI
Ryan Pepiot (SP – TB) at DET, at BOS
Jose Berrios (SP – TOR) at CHW, at ATH
Hunter Brown (SP – HOU) vs CLE, vs TEX
Yusei Kikuchi (SP – LAA) vs TEX, vs ARI
Logan Gilbert (SP – SEA) at NYY, at DET
Jacob deGrom (SP – TEX) at NYY, at DET
Cristopher Sanchez (SP – PHI) at SF, at SD
MacKenzie Gore (SP – WAS) at STL, at MIL
Shota Imanaga (SP – CHC) at MIN, at NYY
Noah Cameron (SP – KC) vs PIT, vs NYM
Should Start
Shane Baz (SP – TB) at DET, at BOS
Baz has had an up and down season this year, but he has been fantastic on the road, throwing 43.1 innings with a 2.91 ERA and 37 strikeouts. There is risk because the matchup at Detroit is a tough one, but you are using him in most formats.
Jack Flaherty (SP – DET) vs TB, vs SEA
Flaherty had been having a fantastic season before back-to-back starts in the middle of June destroyed his season line. He has bounced back some in his last two starts, but he does have two tough matchups versus two of the hottest offenses in baseball over the last month.
Here We Go
Tanner Bibee (SP – CLE) at HOU, at CHW
Bibee has been up and down this season, but prior to his last start, he had seemed to turn things around. He has struggled on the road this season which makes this one more dangerous, but with the White Sox in the back half of the week, it is hard not to play him.
Will Warren (SP – NYY) vs SEA, vs CHC
Warren’s surface line doesn’t look great, but the underlying numbers are really good. His FIP is 3.24 and he is racking up a ton of strikeouts. He has a great offense behind him to give him run support. However, he has a tough set of matchups versus two good offenses that are rolling right now, so there is a ton of risk here.
Jeffrey Springs (SP – ATH) at ATL, at TOR
Springs has been up and down this season, but he has been great recently and has really been fantastic on the road this season, as well. He has a good matchup at the start of the week versus a struggling Braves offense and a tougher one at the end of the week versus a hot Blue Jays lineup.
Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) vs TEX, vs ARI
Soriano has been decent this season, but the recent underlying numbers are pretty good for him. He has a great matchup at the beginning of the week versus a struggling Rangers offense and a tougher one at the end of the week versus a good Diamondbacks team.
Nick Martinez (SP – CIN) and Brady Singer (SP – CIN) vs MIA, vs COL
Martinez and Singer have both been mediocre this season, but you really can’t ask for much better matchups than these. The Rockies and Marlins are two of the worst teams in baseball and getting them both this week makes Singer appealing.
Andrew Heaney – (SP – PIT) at KC, at MIN
Before a couple of road starts in the middle of June, Heaney was having a fantastic season. He has been great in Pittsburgh, posting a 2.53 ERA in 46.1 innings at home, but both of these starts are on the road. However, they are teams that have struggled offensively over the last month, so this is a pretty good time to use him.
Andre Pallante (SP – STL) vs WAS, vs ATL
Pallante has actually been pretty good over his last three starts, throwing 18 innings with a 1.00 ERA and nine strikeouts. There isn’t a ton of upside because of the lack of strikeouts, but the matchups are good against two struggling offenses, so it is a good opportunity to pick up a win or two.
Feeling Lucky
Zac Gallen (SP – ARI) at SD, at LAA
Gallen has been terrible this season, throwing 104 innings with a 5.45 ERA this season. However, he is coming off his best start in two months and he introduced a new sinker which could be what he has been missing this season. He has an easy start at the beginning of the week versus a struggling Padres team and a mediocre one versus an Angels team that hits home runs, but doesn’t do much of anything else.
Janson Junk (SP – MIA) at CIN, at BAL
Junk has quietly been really good this season. He doesn’t have great stuff, but he is very good at mixing and matching and locating his pitches. This is a tough set of matchups on the road, so it might be best to put him on your bench.
Eury Perez (SP – MIA) at CIN, at BAL
Perez is coming off of his best start of the season, but guys coming back from TJ struggle with consistency and he is on the road and away from the Marlins pitching friendly park. High risk/high reward play this week.
Landen Roupp (SP – SF) vs PHI, vs LAD
Roupp has pitched well this year but struggles with control. He has really tough matchups this week versus two potent offenses, so it is better to leave him on your bench in most formats.
Simeon Woods Richardson (SP – MIN) vs CHC, vs PIT
Woods Richardson is a mediocre pitcher that has been getting good results recently. He has a great matchup at the end of the week, but a really tough one at the front half, so there is a good amount of risk especially if a rainout or pushback makes him lose the Pirates start.
Desperate Measure
Brandon Young vs NYM, vs MIA
Joey Cantillo at HOU, at CHW
Didier Fuentes at ATH, at STL
Sean Burke vs TOR, vs CLE
