Welcome back to the latest edition of the “Closer Report.” We are entering the home stretch of the regular season with just over 40 games left this season for most teams. We aren’t seeing too many bullpen changes this time of year outside of injuries. The most recent big blow was in Houston, with all the injuries the Astros have dealt with this season.

Closer News & Notes

Robert Suarez maintains his MLB lead with 33 saves. Mason Miller has remained in the set-up role, except for one blown save in a game where Suarez was unavailable.

Josh Hader landed on the injured list (IL) earlier this week due to a left shoulder strain. He is not expected to return within 15 days as he seeks a second opinion, which usually isn’t a good sign. There should be an update on his status by next week.

Felix Bautista is officially out for the rest of the season with a “significant shoulder injury.” Keegan Akin appears to have the edge in that situation, but Yennier Cano is also in the picture.
