Winning in fantasy football often comes down to exploiting the right WR/CB matchups. Some receivers get dream spots against shaky coverage, while others face lockdown corners that can tank their output. Here are my favorite Week 3 fantasy football WR/CB matchups to target when setting lineups and finding an edge.

Fantasy Football WR/CB Matchups: Week 3
Romeo Doubs (WR – GB) vs. Greg Newsome (CB – CLE)
Last week, we targeted Zay Flowers in his matchup versus Greg Newsome. Flowers did not disappoint, hauling in seven of his 11 targets for 75 yards.
Romeo Doubs may be more of a boom or bust outcome because the Browns’ defense has looked really good despite being 0-2. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), they have the best coverage unit in the league, led by Denzel Ward.
Newsome is the cornerback we want to target. In 2024, Newsome graded out as one of the worst corners in the league, with a PFF coverage grade of 54, ranking him 163rd of 222 qualifying cornerbacks.
Cleveland prefers man courage, using it nearly 60% of the time through the first two weeks, which is good news for Doubs. In 2024, Doubs saw a 5% uptick in receptions and receiving yards while seeing nearly a 55% increase in yards after the catch (YAC) when facing man coverage versus zone coverage.
Rome Odunze (WR – CHI) vs. Kaiir Elam (CB – DAL)
Rome Odunze has been the early go-to option for Caleb Williams, leading the Bears in targets (20), receptions (13) and touchdowns (three). We should expect to see another big day from Odunze as he has a clear advantage over Kaiir Elam.
Elam has been one of the most picked-on defensive backs, targeted 14 times, allowing 12 catches for 132 yards.
Last week, Malik Nabers racked up nine catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns, most of that production coming on the outside against Elam.
We could see another big-time shootout with Odunze having a big day.
George Pickens (WR – DAL) vs. Tyrique Stevenson (CB – CHI)/Nahshon Wright (CB – CHI)
We targeted George Pickens last week, and we are going back to him in Week 3. Pickens will continue to line up on the outside while they move CeeDee Lamb all over the field, including in the slot. If that stands true, Pickens will have a huge edge on either Tyrique Stevenson or Nahshon Wright.
Chicago’s No. 1 CB Jaylon Johnson will miss another game, and we saw how big of an impact that was for Chicago last week, allowing Jared Goff to throw for 334 yards and five touchdowns. Both Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams eclipsed the 100-yard mark.
Wright’s overall PFF grade is 52.7, which ranks 51st among 63 cornerbacks with at least 90 defensive snaps, while Stevenson’s 44.7 grade ranks 59th. Pickens will have a huge advantage over whichever corner he lines up against.
