The 2025-26 season is finally here. Unfortunately, there are players whose Week 1 status remains uncertain. Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Quarterback
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)
Lamar Jackson suffered a foot injury, but returned to practice last week. He’ll be OK.
Running Back
Jaydon Blue (RB – DAL)
Jaydon Blue avoided a high-ankle sprain but suffered a low-ankle sprain. He hasn’t been ruled out for Week 1.
Joe Mixon (RB – HOU)
Joe Mixon is dealing with an ankle injury, and his status for the entirety of the 2025-26 season is uncertain. He’ll be re-evaluated after four weeks. Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio was asked about him playing this season, and he said, “We’ll see, we’ll take it one day at a time.”
Najee Harris (RB – LAC)
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said it’s a “possibility” that Najee Harris (eye injury) will play in Week 1. He said he should practice this week, but it remains to be seen.
De’Von Achane (RB – MIA)
De’Von Achane is also dealing with a calf injury, but Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said he expects him to play in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Tyjae Spears (RB – TEN)
Tyjae Spears has been placed on injured reserve (IR) with a high-ankle sprain.
MarShawn Lloyd (RB – GB)
The Green Bay Packers placed MarShawn Lloyd on IR with a hamstring injury. He’ll miss at least four games.
Wide Receiver
Jalen Coker (WR – CAR)
Jalen Coker was placed on IR with a quad injury and will miss at least four games.
Jalen McMillan (WR – TB)
Jalen McMillan was placed on IR and could be out until at least Week 10 with a neck injury.
Malik Nabers (WR – NYG)
Malik Nabers has dealt with numerous small injuries, including one to his back, but returned to practice on Tuesday, August 26th.
Brandon Aiyuk (WR – SF)
Brandon Aiyuk (knee) has been placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, and San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned his return would be “around Week 6.”
Chris Godwin (WR – TB)
Chris Godwin (ankle) wasn’t placed on IR, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said he’ll likely return in Week 5.
Jauan Jennings (WR – SF)
Jauan Jennings is dealing with a calf injury. General manager John Lynch said the team is “hopeful but not sure on Week 1.”
Marvin Mims Jr. (WR – DEN)
Marvin Mims Jr. is dealing with a groin injury. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has stated that the team is “not overly concerned,” and head coach Sean Payton has confirmed that Mims will return to practice on Monday, September 1st.
Darnell Mooney (WR – ATL)
Darnell Mooney practiced for the first time since July 24th on Thursday, August 28th, after suffering a shoulder injury. His Week 1 status is unknown.
Khalil Shakir (WR – BUF)
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has said that the team believes, based on feedback from the medical staff, that Khalil Shakir (high-ankle sprain) will be available for Week 1.
Tetairoa McMillan (WR – CAR)
Tetairoa McMillan was dealing with hamstring soreness, but returned to practice on Tuesday, August 26th.
Christian Watson (WR – GB)
Christian Watson was placed on the PUP list and will miss at least four games as he continues to recover from a torn ACL toward the end of last season.
DeVonta Smith (WR – PHI)
DeVonta Smith missed practice on Tuesday, August 26th, with a groin injury, but was seen warming up the next day. He was also dealing with a back injury in training camp. Currently, Smith’s Week 1 status appears secure, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)
A.J. Brown had been dealing with a hamstring injury, but practiced consecutive days last week.
Tory Horton (WR – SEA)
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is “optimistic” Tory Horton (ankle) will be active in Week 1. He suffered an ankle injury in the second preseason game.
Tight End
Cade Otton (TE – TB)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that Cade Otton will be “out for a little bit” with a leg injury. He didn’t necessarily rule him out for Week 1, but it’s not looking good.
Isaiah Likely (TE – BAL)
Isaiah Likely is dealing with a foot injury that required surgery, but Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta believes he’ll be back in the early portion of the season.
