Fantasy Football Injuries to Know for Week 14
Jayden Daniels (QB – WSH)
Jayden Daniels (elbow) practiced in full on Thursday.
Jayden Daniels was able to get in a full practice on Thursday, which bodes well for his chances of making his return against the Vikings. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn previously said Daniels would be re-evaluated on Friday, so to see him practice in full is encouraging. If Daniels plays, I’m firing him up as a top-seven fantasy quarterback because the Commanders’ offense is back on track with the return of Terry McLaurin.
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)
Lamar Jackson (ankle) missed practice on Thursday.
The vibes aren’t good at all regarding Lamar Jackson, as he followed up another disappointing performance by missing practice on Thursday. He’s not 100% healthy right now. While I do expect Jackson to suit up on Sunday, you can’t feel comfortable about starting him against an improving Steelers defense.
Kyle Monangai (RB – CHI)
Kyle Monangai (ankle) upgraded to limited on Thursday.
Good news for the Bears, as the thunder to D’Andre Swift‘s lightning got in a limited practice on Thursday. Kyle Monangai is coming off a huge game against the Eagles. The Bears will need him if they’re going to keep pace against the Packers this week. It’s a tough matchup, but Monangai’s usage keeps him in play as a desperation Flex.
Rome Odunze (WR – CHI)
Rome Odunze (foot) didn’t practice on Thursday.
The Bears also got some bad news, as Rome Odunze missed practice on Thursday. It will be interesting to see if Odunze can suit up in a tough spot against the Packers. Even if he does play, it’s hard to feel comfortable about starting him, especially with his underwhelming production of late, not to mention this elite Packers defense.
Justin Herbert (QB – LAC)
Justin Herbert (hand) returned to practice.
Justin Herbert looks like he’ll be ready to play through his hand injury in a pivotal matchup against the Eagles. However, there’s no way I’d start him at less than 100%, facing such a tough defense, even with Jalen Carter out of the lineup. I’m betting the Chargers go with a run-heavy game plan against an Eagles defense that just got gashed on the ground by the Bears.
Omarion Hampton (RB – LAC)
Omarion Hampton (ankle) is ramping up at practice.
Omarion Hampton is picking up the pace at practice, which is encouraging for his chances of returning to action against the Eagles. Expect the Chargers to go with a run-heavy approach. For one, the Bears just gashed the Eagles. Second, Jalen Carter is out. Let’s also not forget that Herbert is banged up. Add that together, and you have to make sure Hampton is in your lineup.
Jayden Reed (WR – GB)
Jayden Reed (foot/shoulder) was limited at practice.
Jayden Reed is close to returning, as highlighted by his limited practice session. This is great news for the Packers, as he’s on track to return to action just in time for a huge NFC North showdown against the Bears. I wouldn’t start him in fantasy, preferring to take a wait-and-see approach. With that said, Reed looks like an appealing stash who can help out down the stretch.
J.J. McCarthy (QB – MIN)
J.J. McCarthy (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol.
J.J. McCarthy is back under center for the Vikings after clearing concussion protocol. It’s a good matchup against a vulnerable Commanders defense. While I wouldn’t start McCarthy, given his struggles, coupled with the Commanders’ improvement on defense since Dan Quinn took over play-calling, his return could help Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
