3 QB2s with Top-5 Potential (2026 Fantasy Football)

We’re in the early stages of the NFL offseason, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t start thinking about value picks in fantasy football.

One of the best ways to put your team over the top is to find a quarterback with a QB2 price tag who has top-five upside. Last season, Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye fit the bill. We will define “QB2” as a quarterback who is drafted outside of the top 12. We’ll use FantasyPros’ expert consensus rankings (ECR) for this list. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Fantasy Football QB2s to Target

Caleb Williams (QB – CHI)

Caleb Williams is currently ranked as the fantasy QB13, so he just barely fits this criterion. I’m going to be all over Williams in 2026. He is a dual-threat quarterback with the ability to make big plays downfield. The supporting cast is great with Colston Loveland, Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze. Better yet, Williams has the best play-caller in the NFL in Ben Johnson.

The former first overall pick checks all the boxes when trying to find a QB2 with top-five upside. We just saw Williams finish as the QB9 in fantasy points per game, so it’s really not that much to ask him to crack the top five.

You have to love the spike weeks Williams showed last season, including three games with 25+ fantasy points. Even though it’s early in the offseason, Wiliams will be my top target at quarterback. He is a perfect combination of reasonable cost and tremendous upside.

Malik Willis (QB – FA)

Malik Willis is going to be one of the most coveted free agents on the market this year. You had to be intrigued with what he showed last season, especially against the Ravens. In that game, Willis completed 18-of-21 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 60 yards and two scores.

It’s the ability to put up elite production on the ground that gives Willis a chance to finish in the top five. All that’s left is for us to see his landing spot. The best spot for Willis would be the Dolphins. They have a clear need at quarterback, as they’re moving on from Tua Tagovailoa. On top of that, head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan both came from the Packers, so they know Willis quite well.

Willis would have an emerging wideout in Jaylen Waddle and a stud running back in De’Von Achane with the Dolphins. Since it’s a rebuilding team, Willis would have a lot on his plate, forced to run wild to help this team win games. I’ll be interested to see if this is where he lands.

Kyler Murray (QB – ARI)

Kyler Murray is a bounce-back candidate. He could stay with the Cardinals, where he has an upgraded coaching staff led by former Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. However, this feels unlikely, as the relationship here has soured.

The other option is for Murray to be traded. Perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. One spot that would be intriguing for fantasy football is the Browns. Cleveland has some talented young players like Quinshon Judkins and Harold Fannin Jr.

With Todd Monken named the team’s new head coach, Cleveland also has a good play-caller. Monken could bring out the best in Murray, just like he did with Lamar Jackson while with the Ravens. Murray has produced like a top-five fantasy quarterback in the past, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility to see it happen again.
