Drafting players who are eligible at multiple positions provides more flexibility to your fantasy baseball rosters. These “Swiss Army knives” are important, helping you fill in any gaps due to injury or poor performance.
In this article, I’ve created tiered fantasy baseball rankings of 32 players with multi-position eligibility for the 2026 fantasy baseball season. However, I removed any catchers who are eligible at other positions because you’re only playing them elsewhere if you’re in a deeper league and decimated with injuries. Positional eligibility is based on what is shown at FantasyPros.

Fantasy Baseball Multi-Position Players Primer: Rankings & Tiers
Let’s take a closer look at players who can be deployed at multiple positions in fantasy baseball.
Tier 1 & Notes
1. Jazz Chisholm Jr. (2B, 3B – NYY)
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is in a tier of his own as an entrenched second-rounder with power and speed upside. Heading into a contract year, you have to be excited about what he does this season.
Tier 2 & Notes
2. Maikel Garcia (2B, 3B, SS, OF – KC)
3. Bo Bichette (3B, SS – NYM)
4. Tyler Soderstrom (1B, OF – ATH)
Maikel Garcia is eligible at multiple positions in some formats. He provides rare speed at third base. Bo Bichette will have a chance to rack up RBI while hitting behind an on-base machine in Juan Soto. Tyler Soderstrom provides power while hitting in a minor league bandbox in Sacramento.
Tier 3 & Notes
5. Ceddanne Rafaela (2B, OF – BOS)
6. Jac Caglianone (1B, OF – KC)
7. Noelvi Marte (3B, OF – CIN)
8. Munetaka Murakami (1B, 3B – CWS)
9. Alec Burleson (1B, OF – STL)
10. Addison Barger (3B, OF – TOR)
11. Kazuma Okamoto (1B, 3B – TOR)
12. Xavier Edwards (2B, SS – MIA)
Ceddanne Rafaela has an elite glove that keeps his bat in the lineup. We could see a 20-20 season from this ascending young player. Jac Caglianone has some of the best raw power in the Majors, and now the fences have been moved in at Kauffman Stadium. Noelvi Marte provides double-digit steals at third base, which is rare. You also have to like the ballpark, which is a bandbox.
Munetaka Murakami has batting average concerns, but he also has elite power with great walk rates. Alec Burleson has entrenched playing time for a rebuilding team. He can be a batting average asset with power. Addison Barger is in line for more playing time with Anthony Santander sidelined, giving him a chance to build off last year.
Kazuma Okamoto is a high-floor bat with 25+ home run upside, playing in a terrific lineup. Xavier Edwards is a 40+ stolen base threat, making him a target if you need speed.
Tier 4 & Notes
13. Brendan Donovan (2B, 3B – SEA)
14. Caleb Durbin (2B, 3B – BOS)
15. JJ Wetherholt (2B, SS – STL)
16. Xander Bogaerts (2B, SS – SD)
17. Luis Arraez (1B, 2B – SFG)
18. Spencer Steer (1B, OF – CIN)
19. Brett Baty (2B, 3B – NYM)
20. Matt Shaw (3B, OF – CHC)
21. Andres Gimenez (2B, SS – TOR)
22. Miguel Vargas (1B, 3B – CWS)
23. Ryan O’Hearn (1B, OF – PIT)
24. Willi Castro (2B, 3B, OF – COL)
25. Jeff McNeil (2B, OF – ATH)
26. Ernie Clement (2B, 3B, SS – TOR)
27. Jordan Lawlar (3B, OF – ARI)
28. Jake Cronenworth (1B, 2B – SD)
29. Coby Mayo (1B, 3B – BAL)
30. Josh Smith (1B, 2B, 3B, SS – TEX)
31. Luis Garcia (1B, 2B – WSH)
32. Mark Vientos (1B, 3B – NYM)
Here we have a bunch of targets to round out your roster as bench bats. I’ve narrowed down this list to a few of my targets.
JJ Wetherholt is an elite prospect with a clear path to playing time on a rebuilding Cardinals team. There’s 20-20 upside here, especially with strong plate discipline. Andres Gimenez played injured last year, which suppressed his production. Now the everyday shortstop for the Blue Jays, we could see a return to 12-15 home runs and 27-30 stolen bases.
If you’re in a deep league, Josh Smith is a perfect fit. He’s the ideal glue guy who can slot into virtually every position in your lineup.
