Smash Spots
Parker Messick (SP – CLE) vs. LAA
Parker Messick continues his spectacular rookie season and is in a smash spot at home against the Angels. We could see Messick pile up the strikeouts in this one.
Mitch Keller (SP – PIT) – vs. COL
Mitch Keller has been a pleasant surprise for the Pirates this season, providing rock-solid ratios. Expect that to continue in a home start against the Rockies.
Chase Dollander (SP – COL) @ PIT
Chase Dollander has hit a wall in his last two starts, but expect the breakout season to continue in a road outing against the Pirates. I’m still on this train.
Risky Starts
Davis Martin (AP – CWS) vs. CHC
Davis Martin has been terrific for the White Sox this season, but his underlying metrics point to regression. That makes me concerned about the red-hot Cubs.
Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) vs. LAD
Jose Soriano has hit a wall since his fantastic start to the season and is set for a tough matchup against the Dodgers. While you’re still starting him, it’s a tough spot.
Justin Wrobleski (SP – LAD) @ LAA
Justin Wrobleski has been crushing it for the Dodgers, but he’s one of the most obvious regression candidates in baseball. The strikeout rate is virtually non-existent.
Two-Start Pitchers
Michael King (SP – SDP) @ MIL, @ SEA
Michael King has been on a roll lately. He’s lined up for a two-start week in two pitcher-friendly environments. You can fire him up with confidence in these spots.
Shane McClanahan (SP – TBR) @ TOR, @ BAL
Shane McClanahan has found his command, and the results have been terrific. While the matchups aren’t great on paper – on the road against the Blue Jays and the Orioles — he’s in a nice rhythm right now.
Max Meyer (SP – MIA) @ MIN, vs. ATL
Max Meyer is another pitcher who is in a rhythm, so you have to fire him up, especially because of his nice strikeout upside. Bet on a strong outing versus the Twins; hope for the best against the Braves.
