Friday’s Top MLB DFS Picks & Player Props

Friday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (6/26)

PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
Jacob Misiorowski $13,000 $11,400
Roki Sasaki $8,000 $8,300
Jose Cabrera $6,000 $7,100
  • There is always the potential for a massive game from Jacob Misiorowski. He’s striking out 39.1% of batters he faces. That’s 8.5% better than the second-best-qualified starter in strikeout rate in Paul Skenes. For perspective, that’s the same difference between Skenes and the 36th qualified pitcher. The first time that Misiorowski faced the Cubs this season, he struck out eight batters in six scoreless innings. That’s actually a relatively mediocre start for him, showing just how good he has been this season.
  • Just when we thought that Roki Sasaki had settled in, there’s been a bit of a step back in his last two starts, allowing 10 earned runs in 10 innings with 10 strikeouts. That’s after striking out 29 batters in 24 innings with only four earned runs in his previous four starts. His matchup today is against the San Diego Padres, who still have the lowest wRC+ in baseball.
  • For a player who wasn’t really on prospect radars, Jose Cabrera‘s debut went about as well as you could have hoped for. He pitched five shutout innings with three strikeouts on only 62 pitches. That was a favorable matchup against the Twins. Today’s matchup is against the Rays. That’s not an easy team to strike out, but it will be interesting to see if Cabrera can find success again.

Suggested Lineup Stacks

Washington Nationals Projected Lineup (6/26)

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
OF James Wood $6,200 $4,200
3B/2B/1B Curtis Mead $5,000 $3,100
1B Andres Chapparo $2,000 $2,200
SS CJ Abrams $5,700 $4,000
OF Dylan Crews $3,600 $2,800
OF Daylen Lile $4,800 $3,000
OF Jacob Young $3,200 $2,500
2B/SS Nasim Nunez $3,500 $2,800
C Keibert Ruiz $3,800 $2,800
  • The Nationals lead the league in both wRC+ and OPS against left-handed pitchers. Their matchup today is against left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers. After some struggles in April and especially May, Rogers has been much better in June with an ERA of 2.22. His real struggles have come against right-handed batters with an OPS against of .807.
  • For a left-handed batter, James Wood more than holds his own against left-handed pitchers. He has been able to maintain a .770 OPS against left-handed pitchers. That’s not quite as good as his .956 OPS against right-handed pitchers, but .807 is still strong. Wood leads the league in runs scored and the National League in walks, which sets him up with a safe floor to go along with his massive ceiling.
  • Keibert Ruiz is having the best offensive season of his career. He has career-best marks in batting average, slugging rate and OPS. He’s been at his best against left-handed pitchers with eight extra-base hits, including two home runs in 63 at-bats. That’s an .836 OPS.
  • Dylan Crews continues to be much more of an option in DFS against left-handed pitchers. His slash line against right-handed pitching this season is .179/.216/.321. You don’t need me to tell you that’s not good. Against left-handed pitchers, his line jumps to .342/.375/.526.

Texas Rangers Projected Lineup (6/26)

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
OF Wyatt Langford $4,000 $3,200
SS Corey Seager $4,500 $3,000
3B Josh Jung $4,100 $3,000
OF Brandon Nimmo $3,600 $2,800
OF/SS/3B/2B/1B/SS Ezequiel Duran $3,700 $2,900
1B Jake Burger $3,500 $3,000
2B Justin Foscue $3,000 $2,400
C Kyle Higashioka $2,900 $2,600
OF Alejandro Osuna $2,400 $2,500
  • Patrick Corbin is opposing the Texas Rangers today. There was a stretch during May where it looked like he might be turning back the clock a bit with a 3.60 ERA. In June, his ERA has ballooned to 8.22. That has brought his seasonal ERA to 4.73, which is still below his expected ERA of 5.62.
  • Wyatt Langford looks revitalized since returning from his injury. He’s recorded hits in 11 of his last 13 games, with multiple hits in seven games. Langford also hit six home runs in those past 13 games. His OPS for the season is just .806, but since returning, it’s all the way up to 1.183.
  • Jake Burger can hit home runs off of any pitcher. He has 10 home runs and a .739 OPS against right-handed pitchers and four home runs and an .879 OPS against left-handed pitchers.
  • Justin Foscue only plays against left-handed pitchers, and with good reason. He is 9-for-47 against right-handed pitchers with an abysmal .576 OPS. Meanwhile, against left-handed pitchers, he’s gone 11-for-31 with five extra-base hits, including two home runs, for a 1.090 OPS.

Core Studs

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. $4,800 $3,000
OF Julio Rodriguez $5,000 $3,200
1B/OF Jac Caglianone $4,600 $3,200
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has a matchup today against Nathan Eovaldi. While Guerrero’s power output has been disappointing this season, he has had success against Eovaldi in that regard. He has gone 12-for-27 against Eovaldi in his career with four extra-base hits, including two home runs.
  • Julio Rodriguez continues to disappoint against right-handed pitching, but continues to mash against left-handed pitching. His OPS against right-handed pitching is only .682, but it’s .871 against left-handed pitching. He has seven home runs against both right-handed and left-handed pitchers, but has about 150 fewer at-bats against lefties. Today’s matchup is against lefty Joey Cantillo.
  • Jac Caglianone has nine home runs with a 1.114 OPS in June. His matchup today is against David Sandlin.

Value Plays/Punts

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
1B Rafael Devers $3,700 $3,000
OF Trevor Larnach $3,700 $2,800
3B/1B Coby Mayo $3,300 $2,600
  • It’s a bit surprising to see Rafael Devers recommended as a value play. While June hasn’t been as good as May, it hasn’t been bad either. He has five home runs and a .722 OPS this month. Today’s matchup is against right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez.
  • Check to make sure that Trevor Larnach is in the lineup before locking everything in. Assuming he is, he’s quietly been very solid this month with a .915 OPS. His matchup today is against Tomoyuki Sugano.
  • Coby Mayo versus a left-handed pitcher is something we have to start paying attention to. Mayo has continued to struggle against right-handed pitchers to the tune of a .441 OPS. However, against left-handed pitchers, he has a 1.111 OPS. His matchup today is against left-handed pitcher Andrew Alvarez.

Friday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props

Jacob Misiorowski (SP – MIL): 18.5 Pitching Outs — Higher

Jacob Misiorowski‘s 8.5 strikeouts line is one of the highest you’ll ever see. While he can certainly get over that mark, that’s not the prop of his that interests me most.

Misiorowski’s most interesting prop is his pitching outs. He’s gone 18.5 outs in four of his last five games, with at least 18 outs in his last eight games.

Paul Goldschmidt (1B, DH – NYY): 1.5 Total Bases — Higher

Paul Goldschmidt has a matchup against left-handed pitcher Payton Tolle. He continues to lead the league in OPS against lefties. Goldschmidt has cleared this number in his last four games.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF – CHC): 0.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs — Higher

I couldn’t believe that Pete Crow-Armstrong‘s hits + runs + RBIs line was set at 0.5. Then it hit me that he is up against Jacob Misiorowski.

It’s like the inevitable force hitting the immovable object. Considering that Crow-Armstrong has recorded at least two hits + runs + RBIs in his last 10 games, you can still take this prop even in a difficult matchup.
