So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my weekly Discord AMA.
Keeper League Questions
Who should I keep with a $250 budget: Rome Odunze ($4) or J.K. Dobbins ($3)?
Odunze is by far the better keeper choice. Unfortunately, Dobbins has struggled to stay healthy in his career. Furthermore, he is part of a three-headed backfield alongside RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman. Meanwhile, Odunze might not be the Chicago Bears’ No. 1 wide receiver. Yet, the former Washington star should still easily see over 100 targets in 2026.
Is Drake Maye a good keeper in the seventh round?
In a single-quarterback league, Maye is a solid keeper in the seventh round. The former North Carolina star has a fifth-round ADP, so keeping him in the seventh is a bargain. However, he is a massive steal if you can keep him in the seventh round of a superflex league. Maye should be a top-10 pick in startup superflex keeper leagues, so to keep him in the seventh, regardless of the league format, is a value.
Should I keep Rome Odunze for $17 or Harold Fannin Jr. for $10 out of a $200 budget?
Both players are solid keeper options given the price. However, Odunze has more upside and plays the more valuable position. Fannin is a mid-range TE1 for me, but I’m concerned about his quarterback play and competition for targets. The Cleveland Browns have arguably the worst quarterback situation in the NFL. Meanwhile, KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston limit Fannin’s target share upside.
Dynasty League Questions
Is a late 2027 first-round pick and Omar Cooper Jr. enough to trade away Luther Burden III?
I’ll be honest, I’m not a big Burden believer. However, you should be able to get more for the second-year wide receiver than a late 2027 first-round rookie pick and Cooper. Unfortunately, the 2027 first-round pick isn’t an early selection. I would be more inclined to make this trade if you could get another 2027 or a 2028 first-round pick in return instead of Cooper.
Would you rather have Cam Ward and a late 2027 first-round pick or Kenneth Walker III and Breece Hall in a superflex league?
If the 2027 first-round pick were projected to be early, I would be more inclined to make this trade. However, I would rather have Walker and Hall. Both running backs have been productive in their careers despite their fantasy situations being far from ideal. Furthermore, Walker and Hall are two top-12 dynasty running backs, which makes it hard for me to trade them away without getting a bounty in return.
In a tight end premium scoring league, should I trade David Njoku for a 2027 third-round pick?
Unfortunately, Njoku’s days as a starting fantasy tight end are over. He showed clear signs of decline last year, and the NFL knew it, as the veteran had to wait until after the draft to sign with a team. Furthermore, the Los Angeles Chargers have no shortage of tight ends. I would trade Njoku away for a 2027 third-round pick without thinking twice about it.
Redraft League Questions
Does Blake Corum or Jonathon Brooks have more standalone value?
The Brooks hype train is about to leave the station. If he plays during the preseason, the former Texas star could be drafted as a top-20 running back, possibly in the fourth round by the end of the month. I already have him ahead of Chuba Hubbard in my rankings. Meanwhile, Corum has limited upside with Kyren Williams healthy. He needs an injury to Williams to have weekly must-start fantasy value.
I have the fifth spot in a 12-team PPR league; should I take Jaxon Smith-Njigba or James Cook with my first pick?
While I have Cook as a top-five running back and a first-round pick in my PPR rankings, taking him at fifth overall would be a reach. There is a clear-cut top-six: Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Ja’Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, Smith-Njigba, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Therefore, it’s an easy decision for me to take Smith-Njigba with the fifth overall pick.
How do you have Bhayshul Tuten, D’Andre Swift, David Montgomery, and Jadarian Price ranked?
All four running backs are in the low-end RB2 range for me. I have it ranked as Montgomery (RB20), Swift (RB22), Price (RB23), and Tuten (RB24). Yet, the order can be rearranged based on team need and roster construction. If you need a safer option because you went with a Zero-RB draft strategy, take Montgomery. However, if you want the player with the most upside as a flex option, Price is your guy.
What are some late-round quarterbacks I should target in a superflex draft?
Depending on how your league drafts, these quarterbacks could come off the board in the middle rounds. That said, quarterbacks with an ADP outside the top 20 that I think could be bargains include Daniel Jones, Cam Ward, and Aaron Rodgers. Jones was outstanding last year before getting hurt. Ward got two new big-time weapons in the offseason. Rodgers is heading into his final year in the NFL and could want to go out with a bang.
Who would you take with the third pick if Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs are gone?
There is a clear-cut top six for me this year. Robinson and Gibbs are the only two running backs and the first two players in that top six. The next four players are all wide receivers. Ja’Marr Chase is third, Puka Nacua is fourth, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is fifth, and Amon-Ra St. Brown is sixth. I would take Chase with the third overall pick. However, you can make the case for any of those four wide receivers.
Is taking Tony Pollard in the fifth round too early?
I like Pollard this year, especially as an RB3 or an RB2 if you use a Hero-RB draft strategy. However, taking him in the fifth round of your draft is too early. He is more of a seventh-round pick to me. The Titans will likely feature the veteran this season, as he is heading into the final year of his contract. While Tyjae Spears should be the guy in passing situations, Pollard could sneak his way into a top-20 finish with enough touchdown luck.
