MLB DFS Picks & Underdog Player Props: Saturday (8/8)

We’re drawing closer to the end of the regular season, but there’s never an end to the fun we can have in DFS games.

DraftKings’ Featured slate begins at 7:10 Eastern Time and includes nine games. FanDuel’s Main Slate is identical to the DraftKings’ featured slate.

Saturday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (8/8)

PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
Gavin Williams $9,900 $10,800
Taj Bradley $8,700 $9,500
Jackson Jobe $6,800 $7,100
  • Gavin Williams is in the midst of a dominant strikeout stretch. Over his last five starts, he has struck out 55 batters in 32 innings with only three walks. Those are historic marks. Four of those five starts have been over 33 points on DraftKings and over 53 points on FanDuel, so he has been worth the cost on either site.
  • While it’s not quite to the level of Gavin Williams, Taj Bradley has quietly been on an impressive streak himself. Over his last nine starts, he has struck out 61 batters in 55 innings. That comes with a 3.11 ERA and a 3.55 FIP in that same stretch. His matchup today is against the Brewers.
  • This will be the first Major League start of the season for Jackson Jobe. There is always a bit of concern on first starts after a long injury layoff for a possible shortened workload, but he threw 69 pitches in his most recent rehab start to dispel some of that fear. His five rehab starts covered 15.1 innings with 17 strikeouts and only three earned runs allowed.

Suggested Lineup Stacks

Los Angeles Dodgers Projected Lineup (8/8)

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
OF/1B (DK) Shohei Ohtani $6,400 $4,200
OF Andy Pages $4,800 $3,300
1B Freddie Freeman $5,500 $3,400
3B Max Muncy $5,400 $3,300
SS Mookie Betts $4,300 $3,100
OF Kyle Tucker $4,100 $3,100
OF Teoscar Hernandez $3,400 $3,100
2B/

SS/3B/OF (FD)

Tommy Edman $4,600 $3,200
C Hunter Feduccia $2,400 $2,400
  • The Dodgers face a familiar foe in Brandon Pfaadt, who finds himself in the middle of the best stretch of his career. He is 6-0 since being recalled at the end of June with a 1.55 ERA over 40.2 innings. That doesn’t sound like someone you want to stack against, but keep in mind that he has only struck out 21 batters in that time. His performance is being boosted by incredible home run luck, as he has allowed only one in those 40 innings.
  • There are plenty of Dodgers with impressive track records against Pfaadt. Let’s start with Freddie Freeman. He has gone 9-27 against Pfaadt in his career with four of those hits going for extra bases. One of the extra-base hits was a home run.
  • Another Dodgers’ star with a history of success against Pfaadt is Mookie Betts. Betts has gone 11-27 against Pfaadt in his career, with three of those hits going for extra bases, including a pair of home runs.
  • There aren’t a lot of ways to get cheap exposure to the Dodgers’ lineup. One of them is Teoscar Hernandez. His .727 OPS would be his lowest since his rookie season. While a 42% hard hit rate is a bit down for him, it’s still good enough that an extra base hit or two is a possibility.

Detroit Tigers Projected Lineup (8/8)

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
3B/SS Kevin McGonigle $5,000 $3,300
2B Gleyber Torres $4,500 $3,300
C Dillon Dingler $5,500 $3,400
OF Riley Greene $4,400 $3,300

1B/2B (FD)

Colt Keith $3,100 $2,800
1B Spencer Torkelson $4,100 $2,900
OF Max Clark $3,200 $3,000

3B (FD)

Javier Baez $2,900 $2,600

SS/3B (FD)

Zach McKinstry $2,600 $2,400
  • The Detroit Tigers are leading baseball in OPS over the past 30 days. Their matchup today is against the inconsistent Landen Roupp. He’s made 11 starts since the start of June. Six of those starts were two earned runs or less, demonstrating the high-end outcomes, but the other five starts were at least four earned runs allowed. His two most recent starts were at least four earned runs.
  • Dillon Dingler has proven to be capable against any pitcher, but you want to focus on him against right-handed pitchers like Roupp. 38 of his 50 extra-base hits, including 22 home runs, have come against right-handed pitchers. That’s a .939 OPS against right-handed pitchers.
  • Another batter in the Tigers’ lineup who you want to play against right-handed pitchers is Riley Greene. Greene has an .888 OPS against right-handed pitchers, which falls to .683 against left-handed pitchers. 14 of his 16 home runs have come against right-handed pitchers.
  • It’s still an extremely small sample size, but Max Clark has proven to be an interesting DFS choice for a relatively minimal salary. His first two games in the Major Leagues were at least 19-point efforts on DraftKings, so high-end outcomes are in there.

Core Studs

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
2B Ketel Marte $4,700 $3,100
OF/2B (FD) Fernando Tatis Jr. $6,100 $3,300
C Ivan Herrera $4,200 $2,900
  • It has been a widely disappointing season for Ketel Marte. His .745 OPS would be his lowest season-long mark since 2022. He’s had success against Yoshinobu Yamamoto in his career, going 5-21 with a pair of extra-base hits, including a home run.
  • Fernando Tatis Jr. has a matchup against Peter Lambert. After only having five home runs in the first half in 95 games, he already has five home runs in 19 second-half games. He’s only had five at-bats against Lambert, but has four hits, with three of them going for extra bases.
  • Ivan Herrera hit a home run yesterday against right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner. That was his eighth home run of the season against right-handed pitching. Today, he faces a left-handed pitcher in Kyle Freeland. Herrera has been ever better against left-handed pitching this season with a .790 OPS.

Value Plays/Punts

POS PLAYER DraftKings Salary FanDuel Salary
3B/1B (FD) Isaac Paredes $3,800 $3,000
1B/OF (FD) Joc Pederson $3,200 $2,800
SS Cooper Pratt $3,500 $3,000
  • Isaac Paredes has a matchup today against Michael King. All 15 of Paredes’ home runs this season have come against right-handed pitchers. King has given up four home runs in his last four starts.
  • Joc Pederson‘s price tag continues to stay depressed for some reason. Yesterday, Pederson hit his 20th home run this season off right-handed pitchers. Today’s matchup is again a right-handed pitcher in Kyle Bradish.
  • First, you need to make sure that Cooper Pratt is in today’s lineup. There are still some games when the Brewers are moving Joey Ortiz over to shortstop to give Pratt a day off. Pratt has the matchup today against Taj Bradley. Pratt has some stark splits early in his career with an .875 OPS against right-handed pitchers like Bradley, and a .373 OPS against left-handed pitchers.

Saturday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props

Gerrit Cole (SP – NYY): 5.5 Strikeouts – Higher

This line still feels low for Gerrit Cole‘s strikeout line. He only struck out five batters in his last start against the Chicago Cubs. Today’s matchup is against the Atlanta Braves. Before that last start, Cole had struck out at least six batters in his previous five starts. I expect he gets back to striking out six or more in this start against the Braves.

Brandon Lowe (2B – PIT): 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI — Higher

Brandon Lowe‘s matchup is against right-handed pitcher Robert Stock. Stock only allowed three hits in five innings in his first start of the 2026 season. This is still the same Robert Stock who had a career ERA of 4.90 in his first five major league seasons. Lowe has an OPS of .902 against right-handed pitchers. He’s gone over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI in 10 of his past 13 games.

Andruw Monasterio (2B, SS – BOS): 1.5 Hits + Runs +RBI – Higher

If you had told me before the season started that Andruw Monasterio would have a nine-game streak going over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI, I would have likely laughed in your face. Yet, that’s exactly where we are. Monasterio’s matchup today is against Gage Jump. The Red Sox offense has been a top-5 offense in the past 30 days by OPS and wOBA. If Monasterio can get a hit (as he has in 19 of his past 20 games), there is a good chance it also leads to a run or RBI.
