Brendan Ryan diagnosed with Grade 2 right calf strain

An MRI revealed that Brendan Ryan suffered a Grade 2 calf strain during Wednesday's spring contest. Ryan went down while attempting to bare hand a ground ball and needed help to leave the field. (NorthJersey.com)
Fantasy Impact:
It appears that Brendan Ryan will start the season on the DL as Joe Girardi said he would be kind of shocked if Ryan is with the team when they open on Monday against the Blue Jays. The injury could open the door for young second baseman Rob Refsnyder or possibly Nick Noonan or Cole Figueroa, both of whom have some Major League experience. The Yankees will make their final roster decisions over the next day or two.
