Corbin Martin inks minor league deal with Cubs

Corbin Martin has agreed to a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs. The righthander will also get a non-roster invite to spring training. (Lance Brozdowski on X)

Martin has pitched parts of four seasons with the Astros, Diamondbacks, and Orioles and has an ERA of 6.54 across 75.2 innings. The former second-round pick by the Astros in 2017 has had command issues - especially in the majors - but improved on those numbers in 18 innings with Baltimore last season as he posted a 23:9 K:BB ratio. Martin will try to earn a spot in the Cubs' bullpen but is likely ticketed for Triple-A Iowa to begin the season.
