Brett Baty expected to play 'multiple positions'

by David Leisering | Mets Correspondent | Fri, Jan 16th 6:50pm EST

Brett Baty is expected to play multiple positions with the New York Mets in 2026, as reported by Jon Heyman. It seems as though most infield positions, as well as left field, will be on the table for Baty to get regular at bats in a super-utility role. (Jon Heyman on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Baty, who just turned 26 in November, enjoyed a bit of a breakout season last year as he batted .254 with 18 home runs and eight stolen bases in 130 games. With the signing of Bo Bichette, Baty seemingly is the odd man out from a regular starting job in the infield. As long as he isn't moved before the season opens, Baty could get a long look in left field in an attempt to keep his bat in the lineup. Baty did play 29 games in left field during his six seasons in the minors, so he does have a little experience there.
