Washington Nationals president of baseball operations Paul Toboni said the team wants to evaluate Garcia at first base over the next month, as he believes Garcia could be very effective at the position. With the Nationals lacking a clear starting first baseman, Garcia could fill that role. He posted a .252/.289/.412 slash line with 16 home runs across 139 games in 2025.
