Corbin Carroll was seen working out at Arizona Diamondbacks camp on Thursday, just one day after undergoing surgery to repair a broken hamate bone. (Megan Plain on Twitter)

Carroll, wearing a cast on his non-throwing hand, was spotted working out solo and completing some throwing drills. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo wasn’t surprised, saying, “That’s how he’s weird, and that’s what makes him so special.” The team is hopeful he’ll be ready around opening day, though no official timeline for his return has been set.
