Paul Sewald earns another save Tuesday with perfect ninth

by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Wed, Apr 15th 7:39am EDT

Paul Sewald pitched a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday to earn his major league-leading sixth save of the year as Arizona defeated Baltimore, 4-3.

Fantasy Impact:

Sewald needed only 11 pitches to retire Blaze Alexander, Gunnar Henderson, and Taylor Ward to take over the major league lead with his sixth save of the year. The righthander is perfect in save opportunities this season and now has a 2.45 ERA, allowing only four hits with a 10:0 K:BB ratio through 7.1 innings. He closed out a career-high 34 games between the Mariners and Diamondbacks in 2023 and seems well on his way to taking a run at that mark in 2026.
