Mason Black optioned to Triple-A Omaha

by David Leisering | Royals Correspondent | Tue, Mar 17th 9:34pm EDT

Righthander Mason Black has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha by the Kansas City Royals. (Kansas City Royals on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Black had a sensational spring, tossing eight scoreless innings, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out eight. The righthander came up as a starter in the Giants' organization and made ten appearances - eight starts - with San Francisco in 2024 and 2025 before being traded to the Royals last November. He has a career ERA of 6.47 in 40.1 innings at the major league level. However, the Royals are looking to use Black out of the bullpen as all six of his appearances in the spring came in relief. He will open the year at Triple-A Omaha, but could find himself in a middle relief role in Kansas City at some point this season.
