Lefthander Cole Ragans has been named the Opening Day starter for the Kansas City Royals according to manager, Matt Quatraro. It will be Ragans' third consecutive Opening Day start. (Anne Rogers on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Ragans battled through an injury-plagued 2025 season and has not pitched well this spring, but this was an expected decision as he's earned it with a solid track record. He went 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA in 12 starts a year ago, but did have an impressive 98:20 K:BB ratio in just 61.2 innings. He has allowed 10 earned runs in 10.2 innings this spring. Ragans is just two years removed from an All-Star season and a fourth-place finish in the AL Cy Young voting. If he remains healthy, he's an excellent bounce back candidate in 2026.
