Ildemaro Vargas went 1-for-4 with a single on Saturday during the Diamondbacks' 6-4 loss to the Padres.
Fantasy Impact:
Vargas singled in his first at bat in the bottom of the second inning on Saturday to extend his hitting streak to 22 consecutive games dating back to last season. Vargas has hit safely in all 19 games to begin this season - one game shy of tying the Major League record for most consecutive games with a hit to start a season currently held by Pablo Sandoval in 2012. Vargas ended last season with hits in his final three games, so his 22-game streak is now the fourth longest in Diamondbacks' history. Luis Gonzalez holds the franchise record with a 30-game streak in 1999. Vargas is hitting .351 with a 1.017 OPS this season.
