Tyler Wells optioned to Triple-A Norfolk

by David Leisering | Orioles Correspondent | Sat, May 2nd 12:06pm EDT

Tyler Wells has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk by the Baltimore Orioles in a series of moves made by the organization on Saturday. (Baltimore Orioles on X)

Fantasy Impact:

It's a bit of a surprising move as Wells has pitched well out of the Orioles' bullpen this season. However, he threw 25 pitches last night and, with a quick turnaround on Saturday, Baltimore needed some fresh arms in the bullpen. Wells has posted a 3.44 ERA with an 18:4 K:BB ratio in 18.2 innings this season. He's required to stay a minimum of 15 days at Triple-A before he is eligible to be recalled, unless Baltimore has another player hit the IL. And, the way the Orioles' season has gone, he could be back up in Baltimore sooner rather than later.
