Esmerlyn Valdez belts first career home run Sunday

Esmerlyn Valdez hit his first career major league home run on Sunday, helping the Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Fantasy Impact:
Valdez took Chase Lee deep with one on and one out in the sixth inning for his first Major League hit and first Major League home run, extending the Pirates' lead to 4-1. Valdez hit 26 home runs in the minors last season and had 10 homers in 46 games at Triple-A Indianapolis prior to his call up, so he does have decent pop in his bat. He is 1-for-8 with five strikeouts in his first three games, but it appears that Pittsburgh is willing to give him an opportunity to show what he can do on a regular basis, especially while Ryan O'Hearn is on the shelf.
