Jordan Wicks hammered in first start of season Tuesday
by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Wed, May 27th 12:34am EDT
Jordan Wicks allowed eight runs on nine hits in 4.1 innings on Tuesday as the Cubs were routed by the Pirates, 12-1.
Fantasy Impact:
Wicks was summoned from Triple-A Iowa over the weekend and got the start on Tuesday in place of the injured Edward Cabrera (finger). The lefthander allowed five runs in the first inning then settled down before being charged for three more runs in the fifth. He walked one, struck out five, and threw 80 pitches on the day. He would get the ball again on Sunday in St. Louis if the Cubs decide to give him another opportunity.
